said Colony, at the Government House,
at Wellington, this twenty-third day of
October, in the year of our Lord one thou-
sand eight hundred and seventy-seven.

land occupied by such last-mentioned road for the
whole or any part of the lands so required; and
upon the presentation of the memorial mentioned in
the twenty-ninth section, the Governor may issue to
such owner a Crown grant of the land so agreed to
be given in exchange:

And whereas the Road Board has agreed with the
owner of the land described in the above-written
memorial to give the said land in exchange for a
road running through Sections ten thousand three
hundred and forty, sixteen thousand five hundred and
five, and sixteen thousand five hundred and twelve,
in the Lake Coleridge Road Board District, County
of Selwyn:

And whereas all the requirements and conditions
prescribed by the said Act, prior to the stoppage of
such road, have been duly performed and fulfilled:

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, Governor of New Zealand, in
exercise and pursuance of the power and authority in
me vested by the said Act, and of any other power
and authority enabling me in that behalf, do hereby
proclaim and declare that the lands described in the
memorial above written, and shown on the plan
aforesaid.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and
Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the
County of York, in the Peerage of the
United Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave
of New Ross, in the County of Wexford,
in the Peerage of Ireland; a Member of
Her Majesty's Most Honorable Privy
Council; Knight Grand Cross of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies,

Lands given in Exchange for Road running through
Sections 10340, 16505, and 16512, in the Lake
Coleridge Road Board District, County of Selwyn.

A MEMORIAL laid before His Excellency the
Governor, by the Minister for Public Works,
pursuant to the provisions of "The Public Works
Act, 1876," containing an accurate description of the
lands on north-west side of Section 22574 near the
Hororata River, proposed to be given to the Hon.
John Hall, of Christchurch, in exchange for road
running through Sections 10340, 16505, and 16512,
in the Lake Coleridge Road Board District, County
of Selwyn.

ALL that piece or parcel of land situate in Lake
Coleridge District, County of Selwyn, Provincial
District of Canterbury, Colony of New Zealand,
containing by admeasurement 5 acres 1 rood
24 perches. Commencing at a point on the south-
east corners of Sections Nos. 16524, 22696, and
27157; proceeding thence in a generally south-
westerly direction for a distance of 1932-5, 1355, and
1429 links respectively to public road; thence follow-
ing said road in an easterly direction 164 links;
thence in a generally north-easterly direction for a
distance of 1300, 1344, and 2024 links respectively;
thence in a south-easterly direction 667 links to
public road; thence following said road in a north-
westerly direction 155 links; thence in a north-
westerly direction 594-5 links; thence in a south-
westerly direction 150 links to point of commence-
ment; the same being delineated upon the plan
marked P.W.D. 6008, hereto attached.

I, the undersigned, William James Mudie Larnach,
Minister for Public Works, hereby certify that the
above-written memorial is true and correct in the
several particulars thereof.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Public Works Act, 1876,"
it is enacted that the Road Board may agree
with the owners of any land required for a road to
be made in lieu of a road to be stopped, as therein
provided, to exchange the whole or any part of the

Moeraki Harbour Board By-laws approved.

NORMANBY, Governor.

WHEREAS the by-laws specified in the Schedule
hereto were, on the eighteenth day of July,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-seven, made
by the Moeraki Harbour Board, pursuant to the
powers conferred by "The Moeraki Harbour Board
Act, 1875," and it is expedient to approve of the
same:

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, do hereby, in exercise of the powers
and authorities vested in me by the said Act, and by
"The Abolition of Provinces Act, 1875," approve of
the said by-laws.
