Land reserved and set apart for Natives in the
Maketu District.

NORMANBY, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
twenty-ninth day of September, 1877.

WHEREAS, in pursuance of the twenty-fourth
section of "The Native Land Act, 1873,"
Gilbert Mair, Esq., the District Officer of the Bay
of Plenty District, has selected, with the concur-
rence of the Natives interested, and set apart the
piece or parcel of land described in the Schedule
hereto, for the benefit of the Natives of the Maketu
District:

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, in pursuance of the said recited Act,
and by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said colony, do hereby
approve of the land described in the Schedule hereto
being reserved and set apart for the benefit of the
Natives of the said Maketu District as aforesaid.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece or parcel of land known as the
Maketu Reserve, situated in the Maketu, Ta Tunue,
and Waihi Survey Districts, containing 3,640 acres,
more or less; being bounded towards the North by
the Bay of Plenty and by the Waihi Lagoon; towards
the East and South by the Kaikokopu Creek and by
a straight line 4609 links; and towards the West by
right lines 13198 links, 1287 links, 8156 links, 782
links, 644 links, and 6293 links.

Appointing Places for holding Licensing Courts.

NORMANBY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of all powers and au-
thorities enabling me in this behalf, I, George
Augustus Constantine, Marquis of Normanby, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby
appoint that sittings of the Licensing Court for the
Licensing District of Suburban North shall, until
otherwise ordered, be held at the Resident Magis-
trate's Courthouse at Nelson; and that sittings of
the Licensing Courts for the Licensing Districts of
Waimea East and Waimea West shall, until other-
wise ordered, be held at the Resident Magistrate's
Courthouse at Brightwater.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this twenty-eighth day of
September, one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-seven.

Members of Mangapai Highway Board appointed.

NORMANBY, Governor.

WHEREAS at the annual meeting of the rate-
payers of the Mangapai Highway District, in
the Provincial District of Auckland, held on the
twenty-eighth day of July last, there were not present
at such meeting ten qualified persons as is required
by section thirteen of "The (Auckland) Highways
Act, 1874," and such meeting was not adjourned as is
authorized by the fourteenth section of that Act, and
it is expedient to appoint a District Board and Audi-
tors, as is authorized by the said Act:

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the
powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act,
and by "The Abolition of Provinces Act, 1875," do
hereby appoint

RICHARD KNAGGS,
WILLIAM HARRISON,
GEORGE MCCULLOUGH,
JAMES SLOANE, and
JAMES BLACKBURN,

to be the District Board of the Mangapai Highway
District for the ensuing year.

And I do further appoint

EBENEZER CARTER, and
SAMUEL GREEN,

to be Auditors of the aforesaid Highway Board for
the ensuing year.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor this twenty-eighth day of Sep-
tember, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-seven.

Conditions for Trout Fishing in River Maitai, Nelson.

NORMANBY, Governor.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities vested
in him by "The Salmon and Trout Act, 1867,"
His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand doth hereby make the following regulations
for the Provincial District of Nelson:-

REGULATIONS.

  1. These regulations shall come into force on the
    first day of October, one thousand eight hundred
    and seventy-seven.

  2. Any holder of a license, as hereinafter men-
    tioned, may fish with rod and line for trout in the
    River Maitai from the first day of October next
    until the thirty-first day of March, one thousand
    eight hundred and seventy-eight.

  3. Licenses to fish with rod and line in the said
    river will be issued under the hand of the Chief
    Inspector of Police at Nelson, and for every license
    a fee of ten shillings will be charged.

  4. No license shall authorize any person other
    than the person named therein to fish, and that only
    with rod and line.

  5. Any person fishing without a license, or any
    person who shall on demand of any person holding
    and showing a license, or on the demand of any
    police officer or constable, fail to produce and show
    to such person, police officer, or constable his license,
    shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding twenty
    pounds.

  6. All trout not exceeding twelve inches in length
    taken by any person fishing as aforesaid shall be
    immediately returned alive to the said river, and any
    person convicted of infringing this regulation shall
    be liable to a penalty not exceeding twenty pounds
    sterling, and his license shall thereupon become void.

  7. Except as aforesaid, no person shall fish or use
    any net or other engine, instrument, or device for
    taking fish in any river or stream within the Provin-
    cial District of Nelson, and all persons offending
    against this regulation shall be liable to a penalty
    not exceeding fifty pounds.

  8. Any person who puts, throws, or places, or
    allows to be put, thrown, or placed into any river or
    stream in the said Provincial District of Nelson, any
    dynamite or other explosive substance, or any matter
    or liquid deleterious to fish, shall be liable to a
    penalty not exceeding one hundred pounds.

Governor, this twenty-eighth day of Sep-
tember, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-seven.
