declare that the boundaries of the Wakatipu District,
constituted as a Vaccination District under "The
Public Health Act, 1872," shall be and the same are
hereby altered; and do hereby proclaim and declare
that the territory therein comprised shall be divided
anew into two Vaccination Districts, the names
whereof shall be the Wakatipu District and the Big
Bay District; and that the boundaries of the said
districts shall be coterminous with the boundaries of
districts bearing the same names as are set forth in a
Proclamation of even date herewith made under the
provisions of "The Marriage Act Amendment Act,
1858;" and I hereby declare that this Proclamation
shall come into operation and take effect on the first
day of November, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-seven.

Dog Nuisance Ordinance.

A PROCLAMATION.

UNDER and in pursuance of the powers vested in
me by an Act of the Local Legislature of the
late Province of Auckland, intituled "An Act to
abate the Nuisance caused by Dogs" (Session I.,
No. 4, 1854), I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that,
from and after the fourth day of October, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-seven, the Dis-
trict of Mangapiko, as constituted under "The
Highways Act, 1874" (Auckland), shall come within
the operation of the said Ordinance, Session I., No. 4,
1854.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl
of Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and
Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the
County of York, in the Peerage of the
United Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave
of New Ross, in the County of Wexford,
in the Peerage of Ireland; a Member of
Her Majesty's Most Honorable Privy
Council; Knight Grand Cross of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
twenth-ninth day of September, 1877.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by the eighth section of "The " Native
Land Act Amendment Act, 1874," (hereinafter
referred to as "the said Amendment Act,") it is
enacted that in any case where an application for a
rehearing of any matter heard and decided under
'The Native Lands Act, 1865," and the Acts amend-
ing the same, shall have been made subsequently to
the first day of July, one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-three, the Governor in Council may, in
the manner provided by the fifty-eighth section of
"The Native Lands Act, 1873," order a rehearing of
any such matter so heard and decided as aforesaid,
and all the provisions of the said "Native Lands Act,
1873," respecting rehearings, so far as applicable,
shall extend to any rehearing under the said
Amendment Act: Provided that such application
shall in each case have been made within six months
from the date of the decision of the Court in such
case:

And whereas at a sitting of the Native Land Court
of New Zealand, at Foxton, in the Manawatu District,
Province of Wellington, on the twenty-second day of
March, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three,
the claims of Hoani Meihana and others, and of Tapa
te Whata and others, aboriginal natives of New Zea-
land, to certain pieces of land called respectively
Middle Aorangi, Lower Aorangi No. 1, Lower
Aorangi No. 2, Upper Aorangi, Upper Aorangi
No. 1, Upper Aorangi No. 2, situate near Oroua, in
the said district, were heard and decided under the
provisions of the said "Native Lands Act, 1865,"
and the Acts amending the same, and certain orders
were thereupon made by the said Court:

And whereas on or about the twenty-first day
of August, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
three, an application was made by and on behalf
of certain aboriginal natives claiming to have an
interest in the said land for a rehearing of the claims
to the pieces of land known as Middle Aorangi,
Lower Aorangi No. 1, Upper Aorangi, and Upper
Aorangi No. 1, and it is expedient that the said
claims should be reheard before the said Court :

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in
exercise and pursuance of the above-recited power,
and by and with the advice and consent of the Exe-
cutive Council of New Zealand, doth hereby order
and direct that the said claims of Hoani Meihana and
others, and Tapa te Whata and others, to the pieces
of land known as Middle Aorangi, Lower Aorangi
No. 1, Upper Aorangi, and Upper Aorangi No. 1,
shall be reheard as and in the manner provided by
"The Native Land Act, 1873"; and doth also order
that such rehearing shall take place within five years
from the said twenty-second day of March, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.
