Districts constituted under "The Marriage Act Amendment Act, 1858."

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in
me by "The Marriage Act Amendment Act,
1858," I, George Augustus Constantine, Marquis
of Normanby, the Governor of New Zealand, do hereby
proclaim and declare that the boundaries of the
Wakatipu District, as at present constituted under
the said Act, shall be and are hereby altered; and
do proclaim and declare that the territory
therein comprised shall be divided anew into two
districts, the names and boundaries whereof
shall be as follow:—

WAKATIPU DISTRICT.

COMMENCING at a point due north of Cosmos Peak
upon a line drawn from the mouth of the Awarua
River to Mount Aspiring; thence bounded on the
North by the said line to the summit of the Forbes
Ranges; thence towards the East by right lines from
peak to peak along the summit of the range to Mount
Edward, and thence by right lines from peak to peak
to Mount Tyndall; thence towards the North by the
summit of the range to Fox Peak; thence towards
the East by the summit of the watershed to Black
Peak, Treble Cone, and Mount Motatapu; thence by
right lines from peak to peak following the watershed
of the Shotover and Arrow Rivers to the Kawarau
River at its junction with the Shotover; thence by
the Kawarau River to a point due north of Ben Nevis,
and thence by the range to Ben Nevis; thence by a
right line to the junction of the Allan Burn with the
River Mataura; thence towards the South-west by
the River Mataura to Eyre Peak; thence towards the
South-east by a right line drawn to a point on the
River Oreti due east of Surprise Cove on Lake
Manapori; thence towards the South by another right
line to Surprise Cove; towards the East by the Waiau
River to the sea; and towards the South and West by
the sea to Cloudy Pass in Bligh Sound; thence
towards the North by a right line through Cloudy
Pass and over the Castle to the summit of the Earl
Mountains; thence along the summit to Mount
Anau; and thence by the summit of the ranges to
the eastern summit of the watershed of the Holly-
ford River; again towards the West by the summit of
the said watershed to Cosmos Peak; and thence by
a line due north to the starting point.

BIG BAY DISTRICT.

Bounded on the North by a right line drawn from
the mouth of the Awarua River to Mount Aspiring;
on the East by a line due south to Cosmos Peak, and
by the eastern summit of the watershed of the Holly-
ford River; on the South and South-west by the sum-
mit of the ranges to Mount Anau; thence along the
summit of the Earl Mountains to a point in line
with Castle Mountain and Cloudy Pass; thence by
a right line over the Castle to Cloudy Pass; and
towards the West by the sea to the starting point.

And I hereby declare that this Proclamation shall
come into operation and take effect on the first day
of November, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-seven.

Most Honorable George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, Earl of Mulgrave, Viscount
Normanby, and Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in
the County of York, in the Peerage of the
United Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave of New Ross,
in the County of Wexford, in the Peerage of Ireland; a
Member of Her Majesty's Most Honorable Privy
Council; Knight Grand Cross of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and
Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
fourth day of October, in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-seven.

Births and Deaths Act, 1875."

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in
me by "The Registration of Births and Deaths
Act, 1875," I, George Augustus Constantine, Mar-
quis of Normanby, the Governor of New Zealand,
do hereby proclaim and declare that the boundaries
of the Wakatipu District as now constituted under
"The Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1875,"
shall be and the same are hereby altered; and do
hereby proclaim and declare that the territory there-
in comprised shall be divided anew into two districts,
the names whereof shall be the Wakatipu District
and the Big Bay District; and that the boundaries
of the said districts shall be coterminous with the
boundaries of districts bearing the same names, as
are set forth in a Proclamation of even date here-
with, made under the provisions of "The Marriage
Act Amendment Act, 1858;" and I hereby declare
that this Proclamation shall come into operation and
take effect on the first day of November, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
seven.
