Contractors, whose tenders are accepted, must be
prepared to carry out the services for which they
tender, according to the time-tables arranged by the
department, and which may be seen at the Post
Offices from which the services start.

The services marked thus *, which will be affected
by railway extension, may be terminated by the
Postmaster-General on giving one month's notice in
writing, or a reduction, at a fixed rate per mile,
based on the amount of subsidy be made, as the
railway extends.
Form of tender, with the terms and conditions of
contract, may be procured at any Post Office.
No tender will be considered unless made on the
printed form.
Tenders to be indorsed "Tender for Mail Service,
No. ," and addressed to the Postmaster-General,
Wellington, and enclosed to the Chief Postmaster of
the district to which the tender may specially refer.

IT is hereby notified for general information that
the designation of the Post Office in the Pro-
vincial District of Taranaki, hitherto known as
Manutahi South, has been changed to
MANUTAHI.

Alterations and Additions to the Rates for the Convey-
ance, Delivery, and Storage of Goods, Parcels, &c.,
on all the New Zealand Railways, published in New
Zealand Gazette, Nos. 34, 48, 58, 62, and 67, of the
18th April, 1st June, 28th June, 19th July, and
2nd August, 1877, respectively.
IN accordance with the By-laws for the New
Zealand Railways, fixed by Order in Council
dated the 17th day of April, 1877, the following
alterations and additions to the rates for the con-
veyance, delivery, storage of goods, parcels, &c., on
all the New Zealand Railways, published in the New
Zealand Gazette, Nos. 34, 48, 58, 62, and 67, of the
18th April, 1st June, 28th June, 19th July, and 2nd
August, 1877, respectively, are hereby declared to be
fixed, and shall come into force on and after the
10th September, 1877:---
Pearl barley, in bags, to be carried as Class B.
Tallow and fat, and tallow, in bags, casks, or other
packages, to be eliminated from Classes B and C
respectively, and to be carried as Class D.
Butter, in baskets, to be carried as Class C.
Beans and peas (colonial produce), whole or
crushed, to be carried as Class E.
Beans and peas, in casks or bags (imported), to be
carried as Class B.
The minimum charge for coal for distances of 3
miles and under to be 7s. 6d. per truck. The mini-
mum charge for distances of over 3 miles, and
under 15 miles, to be 12s. 6d. per truck.
Class G, in small lots, less than one truck-load,
may be carried as Class D, provided charge does not
exceed 1s. per mile.
Pigs, sheep, goats, and calves, in single-floor trucks,
to be carried at 10s. per truck per mile for all dis-
tances not exceeding 10 miles; and for each additional
mile, 5d. per truck per mile up to 50 miles; and for
each additional mile, 4d. per truck per mile up to 100
miles; and for each additional mile, 3d. per truck
per mile. Two-floor trucks will be charged at 1
above rates.
Sucking pigs, in hampers or baskets, may be sent
as parcels, according to weight.
