THE following Notices to Mariners, received from the Marine Board of Port Adelaide are published for general information.

ALTHORPE ISLAND, INVESTIGATOR STRAIT.
NOTICE is hereby given, that about March or April, 1878, there will be exhibited from a tower 40 feet in height, erected on the large Althorpe Island, a White Revolving Light of the first order, visible all round the horizon, with eclipses every 15 seconds, and having a red sector of light showing over Emmes Reef and the S.W. Rock. Detailed particulars will be issued before exhibition.

HARDWICKE BAY, SPENCER GULF.
NOTICE is hereby given, that the schooner “Eclipse” grounded on a shoal rocky patch, having only four (4) feet of water over it at low water.
As this patch is the direct track of vessels working into and out of Port Victoria, care should be exercised when approaching the anchorage until the shoal is marked by a buoy.
It is reported to be nearly due East from the publichouse and new jetty, at a distance of from one-half to three-quarters of a mile.

DISCONTINUANCE OF MANA ISLAND LIGHT AND EXHIBITION OF FLASHING WHITE LIGHT ON THE BROTHERS, COOK STRAIT.

Wellington, 31st August, 1877.
NOTICE is hereby given, that on and after the evening of Monday, the 24th September, 1877, a Light will be exhibited from a Lighthouse which has been erected on the Brothers (Northern Islet), Cook Strait, the characteristics of which are as follow:—
The tower is 28 feet in height, built of wood and painted white. The light will be a SECOND ORDER FLASHING WHITE LIGHT, visible all round, SHOWING A FLASH EVERY TEN SECONDS. The light will be elevated about 258 feet above the sea, and, allowing 15 feet for the height of the eye, will be seen at a distance of 22 nautical miles in clear weather, and at lesser distances according to the state of the atmosphere.
From the lower part of the tower a FIXED RED LIGHT, having an arc of 5°, will be shown in the direction of Cook’s Rock,
On the same night on which the Brothers Light is exhibited, the Fixed White Light on Mana Island WILL BE DISCONTINUED.

Revocation of Appointment of Bonding Warehouses.
CUSTOMS.—In exercise of the authority in me for this purpose vested, I, George McLean, the Commissioner of Customs, do by this order under my hand revoke and annul the appointment of the under-mentioned buildings and warehouses for the reception and security of goods entered to be warehoused without payment of duty upon the first entry thereof:—
Port of Napier.
A concrete building, with iron roof, situate on portions of Sections 519 and 520; Spit, Napier, having an entrance opening into Waghorn Street, and known as
“KINROSS AND CO.’S BOND.”
Port of Lyttelton.
A building situate in Charles Street, Kaiapoi, and known as
“BIRCH’S BOND.”
Given under my hand, at Wellington, this thirty-first day of August, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-seven.

Approving and Appointing Bonding Warehouses.
CUSTOMS.—In exercise of the powers in me for this purpose vested by “The Customs Regulation Act, 1858,” I, the Commissioner of Customs, do hereby approve and appoint the under-mentioned Warehouses, viz.,—
Port of Napier.
A concrete building, roofed with iron, situate on Section No. 522, Waghorn Street, and known as
“KINROSS AND CO.’S BOND.”
Port of Lyttelton.
A brick building, roofed with iron, situate on Town Section No. 7, Norwich Quay, and known as
“THE NORWICH BOND,”
—to be Warehouses for the reception of goods under bond.
Port of Dunedin.
A wood and iron building, situate on part of the Town Belt, adjoining Anderson’s Bay Road, and known as
“THE UNIVERSAL KEROSENE BOND,”
to be a Warehouse for the reception and storage of kerosene and other oils under bond.
Given under my hand at Wellington, this thirty-first day of August, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-seven.
