A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by "The Gold Fields Act, 1866," it
is provided that it shall be lawful for the
Governor, at any time subsequent to the Proclamation
of a goldfield, to withdraw by Proclamation therefrom
any Crown lands which he may deem it necessary to
withdraw, and that such lands shall thenceforth be
dealt with, sold, occupied, and disposed of under any
law or laws for the time being in force regulating the
sale, occupation, or disposal, or in any way affecting
or relating to the management or dealing with the
Crown lands within the province in which such gold
field is situate, in like manner in every respect as
though such lands had never been comprised in any
proclaimed gold field:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
power and authority for this purpose vested in me, do
hereby withdraw from the Westland Gold Field,
proclaimed on the twenty-second day of April, one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight, the parcel of
land described in the Schedule hereto, which is
included within the said gold field.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that parcel of land in the Provincial District of
Westland, containing by admeasurement five (5)
acres, more or less, being section numbered one
hundred and fifty-eight (158) (in red), situate in the
Arahura District:--Commencing at a point on the
north-eastern side of Warden's Road two chains
fifty links distant in a north-westerly direction from
its junction with the north-western side of the
Greenstone Road; thence north-westerly along said
Warden's Road for nine chains; thence north-easterly
at a right angle for three chains fifty-five links, to the
edge of terrace; thence in a general south-easterly
direction, following the edge of the terrace to a point,
intersected by a line produced in a north-easterly
direction at a right angle with Warden's Road from
the commencing point; and thence from said point
in a south-westerly direction to the commencing
point.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by "The Oyster Fisheries Act, 1866,"
it is, amongst other things, enacted that the
Governor may from time to time, by Proclamation in
the New Zealand Gazette, declare any natural oyster-
bed to be closed against dredging for any period to
be stated in such Proclamation: And whereas it is
expedient that the natural oyster-bed at Halfmoon
Bay, in Stewart Island, should be temporarily closed :
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the
power and authority in me vested by the said Act,
do hereby proclaim and declare that the natural
oyster-bed lying off Horseshoe and Halfmoon Bays
and Paterson's Inlet, Stewart Island, and situated
East-south-east from Fish Rock and West-north-
west from Beach Island, shall be closed against
dredging from the date hereof until the twenty-
eighth day of February, one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-nine.
