Proclaiming Kumara a Borough under "The Muni- Borough of South Dunedin proclaimed a Borough
cipal Corporations Act, 1876." under "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876."

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by section seventeen of "The Muni-
cipal Corporations Act, 1876," the Governor is
empowered by Proclamation to declare any district
in New Zealand to be a borough under the said Act
from and after a day to be named in such Proclama-
tion:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
power and authority vested in me by the said Act, do
hereby proclaim and declare that the district of
Kumara shall be and the same is hereby constituted,
as from the twenty-third day of July, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-seven, a borough under the
said Act; and that the name of such borough shall be
the Borough of Kumara, and the boundaries of such
borough shall be those specified in the Schedule
hereto.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that parcel of land in the Provincial District of
Westland, containing by admeasurement eight hun-
dred and forty-two (842) acres, more or less, situate
in the Arahura Survey District, and bounded as
follows:-Commencing at a point on the western
side of the Greenstone Road, being the southern-
most corner peg of Rural Section No. 1926; thence
north-westerly at a right angle with said road for
forty (40) chains; thence north-easterly at a right
angle to the southern boundary of Suburban Section
No. 1309 nine thousand six hundred and eighty
(9680) links; thence south-easterly following the
southern boundaries of Suburban Sections Nos.
1309, 1308, 1307, 1181, 1180, 1179, 1178, five thou-
sand two hundred and ninety (5290) links, thence
across the Greenstone Road, and by the southern
boundary of Ferry Reserve No. 68 (in red), and the
north-eastern boundary of Educational Endowment
Reserve No. 128 (in red), four thousand six hundred
(4600) links; thence south-westerly along part of
the south-eastern boundary of said Reserve No. 128
(in red) one thousand one hundred and forty (1140)
links and eight thousand one hundred (8100) links,
and a line in continuation of the same; and thence
north-westerly at a right angle in a straight line, to
the commencing point, four thousand one hundred
(4100) links; be all the aforesaid linkages more or
less, as the same is delineated on the plans deposited
in the Survey Office, Westland.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and
Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the
County of York, in the Peerage of the
United Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave
of New Ross, in the County of Wexford,
in the Peerage of Ireland; a Member of
Her Majesty's Most Honorable Privy
Council; Knight Commander of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and
Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
twenty-third day of July, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-seven.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the fifteenth section of "The
Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," it is
enacted that the Governor may, by Proclamation,
declare any of the several places specified in the
Third Schedule to the said Act in which a Municipal
Corporation has been established under the provi-
sions of an Ordinance of the Province of Otago
intituled "The Otago Municipal Corporations Ordi-
nance, 1865," to be a borough constituted under the
said "Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," from
a day to be named in such Proclamation: subject,
however, to certain conditions in the said section
mentioned: And whereas the Town of South
Dunedin, in the Provincial District of Otago, is
one of the places specified in the said Third Schedule,
and a petition has been presented to His Excellency
the Governor by fifty-seven of the ratepayers of such
town praying him to constitute such town into a
borough under the said "Municipal Corporations
Act, 1876," and such petition was, on the twenty-
third day of May, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-seven, publicly notified, and no petition from
an equal or greater number of such ratepayers was
presented to His Excellency within two months after
public notification, praying him not to assent to
the prayer of such first-mentioned petition :
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of all
powers and authorities enabling me in that behalf, do
hereby proclaim and declare that, from the twenty-
third day of July, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-seven, the said Town of South Dunedin shall
be a borough constituted under the said "Municipal
Corporations Act, 1876," and shall be called the
Borough of South Dunedin; and that the boundaries
of such borough shall be those specified in the
Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
SOUTH DUNEDIN.
ALL that parcel of land in the Province of Otago, in
the Colony of New Zealand, containing by admeasure-
ment two hundred and fifty-three (253) acres and
twenty-five (25) poles, more or less, situate in the
town district, being Sections numbered respectively
one (1), two (2), three (3), four (4), five (5), six (6),
seven (7), twenty-two (22), twenty-three (23), twenty-
four (24), twenty-five (25), twenty-six (26), twenty-
seven (27), twenty-eight (28), twenty-nine (29)
thirty (30), thirty-one (31), thirty-two (32), thirty-
three (33), thirty-four (34), thirty-five (35), thirty-six,
(36), and parts of Sections numbered respectively
eight (8), forty-two (42), forty-three (43), forty-four
(44), forty-five (45), Block seven (VII.), on the map
of the said district. Bounded towards the North-east
by the Anderson's Bay Road four thousand one hun-
dred and eighty (4180) links; towards the South-east
by a line extending along the centre of Bay View
Road and Kennedy Road five thousand two hundred
and fifty (5250) links; towards the South-west by
Section numbered 37 one thousand nine hundred
and forty (1940) links; again towards the South-
east by Sections numbered respectively 37, 38, 39, 40,
41, and part of 46, three thousand six hundred and
ten (3610) links; again towards the South-west by a
road line two thousand (2000) links; and towards the
North-west by part of Section numbered 13, Block
VI., and Sections numbered respectively 21, 20, 19,
18, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, and 12, and part of Section 8,
