THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

Marquis of Normanby, Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of all powers
and authorities enabling me in that behalf, do hereby
proclaim and declare that, from the tenth day of
July, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
seven, the said Town of Arrowtown shall be a borough
constituted under the said "Municipal Corporations
Act, 1876," and shall be called the Borough of Arrow-
town; and that the boundaries of such borough shall
be those specified in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land in the Province of Otago,
containing by admeasurement one hundred and
seventy (170) acres, more or less, bounded by a line
commencing at a point in the northern boundary of
Block numbered VII., Shotover District, and extend-
ing due North along the eastern boundary of Section
numbered 7, Block XVIII., Shotover District, and its
continuation in the same direction three thousand
three hundred and ninety-eight (3398) links; thence
by a line due East to the Arrow River, two thousand
three hundred and eighty (2380) links; thence along
the Arrow River in a south-easterly direction to
Block numbered X., Shotover District, six thousand
five hundred and thirty (6530) links; thence in a
westerly direction along the northern boundary lines
of Blocks numbered respectively X. and VII., Shot-
over District, to the starting point, six thousand five
hundred and fifty-eight (6558) links.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl
of Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and
Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the
County of York, in the Peerage of the
United Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave
of New Ross, in the County of Wexford,
in the Peerage of Ireland; a Member of
Her Majesty's Most Honorable Privy
Council; Knight Commander of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint
Michael and Saint George; Governor
and Commander-in-Chief in and over
Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand
and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal
of the said Colony, at the Government
House, at Wellington, this tenth day of
July, in the year of our Lord one thou-
sand eight hundred and seventy-seven.

Proclaiming Palmerston North a Borough under "The
Municipal Corporations Act, 1876."

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section seventeen of "The Muni-
cipal Corporations Act, 1876," the Governor
is empowered by Proclamation to declare any district
in New Zealand to be a borough under the said Act
from and after a day to be named in such Proclama-
tion :-

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
power and authority vested in me by the said Act, do
hereby proclaim and declare that the district of
Palmerston North shall be and the same is hereby
constituted, as from the twelfth day of July, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-seven, a borough
under the said Act; and that the name of such
borough shall be the Borough of Palmerston North,
and the boundaries of such borough shall be those
specified in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

BOUNDED towards the North-east by a straight line
being the north-eastern boundaries of Sections Nos.
389 and 420 and a straight line joining the said
north-eastern boundaries 12550 links; towards the
East and South-east by the Manawatu River 36400
links, and by Section No. 371, 177 links; towards
the South-west by Sections Nos. 371, 372, 373, and
374, 6250 links, and by Section No. 370, 3000 links,
and by Section No. 350, and across a public road,
8200 links; and towards the North-west by a public
road, being the north-western boundary of Section
No 558, 177 links, and by a public road 27300 links.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the

1876," in force within the Lower Wairau River
District.

A PROCLAMATION.

BY virtue of the power vested in me by the third
section of "The Regulation of Local Elections
Act, 1876," I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that
the said Act shall come into force in respect of all
elective offices of the Board of Conservators elected
under "The Hawke's Bay and Marlborough Rivers
Act, 1868," for the district known as the Lower
Wairau District, situate in the Provincial District
of Marlborough.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and Baron
Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the County
of York, in the Peerage of the United
