Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
powers and authorities vested in me by the said Acts,
do hereby proclaim and declare that, from and after
the tenth day of July, one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-seven, the district comprised and de-
scribed in the Schedule hereto shall come within the
operation of the said "Dog Nuisance Act, 1854."

SCHEDULE.

THE Waikato County, as described in "The Counties
Act, 1876," excepting thereout the Cambridge North
Township and the Hamilton East Township Highway
Districts.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and Baron
Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the County
of York, in the Peerage of the United
Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave of New
Ross, in the County of Wexford, in the
Peerage of Ireland; a Member of Her
Majesty's Most Honorable Privy Coun-
cil; Knight Commander of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and
Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
tenth day of July, in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-seven.

Proclaiming Masterton a Borough under "The
Municipal Corporations Act, 1876."

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section seventeen of "The Muni-
cipal Corporations Act, 1876," the Governor is
empowered by Proclamation to declare any district
in New Zealand to be a borough under the said Act
from and after a day to be named in such Proclama-
tion:

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
power and authority vested in me by the said Act,
do hereby proclaim and declare that the district of
Masterton shall be and the same is hereby consti-
tuted, as from the tenth day of July, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-seven, a borough under
the said Act; and that the name of such borough
shall be the Borough of Masterton, and the boun-
daries of such borough shall be those specified in the
Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

THE boundary commences at a point on the right
bank of the Waipoua River, bearing 206Β° (Wairarapa
Trig.) from the "South Base" Trigonometrical Station,
and runs thence south-easterly along the right banks
of the Waipoua and Ruamahanga Rivers 36,800 links,
to the northern corner of the Pokohiwi Block; thence
south-westerly to the northern corner of Section No.
117, Masterton Small Farm Settlement, 5140 links;
thence to the southern corner of Section No. 113,
2559 links, and along the southern boundary of
Section No. 112, 547 links; thence along the north-
eastern boundary of Section No. 33, Manaia Block,
700 links, 462 links, and 278 links, to its eastern
corner; thence along the south-eastern boundary of
the said Section No. 33, 4,115 links, to a public road;
thence north-westerly along the north side of the
said road 11640 links, 9994 links, and 1346 links, to
the south-western corner of Section No. 52, Manaia
Block; thence northerly along the western boun-
daries of Sections Nos. 52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59,
60, and 61, 5884 links; thence across a public road
to the south-western corner of Section No. 41, Mas-
terton Small Farm Settlement, along the north-
western boundary of the said section, and across a
public road, 6402 links, to the south-western boun-
dary of Section No. 49; thence along the south-
western and north-western boundaries of the said
section 97 links and 3567 links respectively to its
northern corner; and thence in a straight line 7000
links, to the starting point.

Town of Arrowtown proclaimed a Borough under
"The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876."

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the fifteenth section of "The
Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," it is
enacted that the Governor may, by Proclamation,
declare any of the several places specified in the
Third Schedule to the said Act in which a Municipal
Corporation has been established under the provi-
sions of an Ordinance of the Province of Otago
intituled "The Otago Municipal Corporations Ordi-
nance, 1865," to be a borough constituted under
the said "Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," from a
day to be named in such Proclamation: subject, how-
ever, to certain conditions in the said section men-
tioned: And whereas the Town of Arrowtown, in the
Provincial District of Otago, is one of the places
specified in the said Third Schedule, and a petition
has been presented to His Excellency the Governor by
fifty-two of the ratepayers of such town, praying him
to constitute such town into a borough under the
said "Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," and such
petition was, on the tenth day of May, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-seven, publicly notified,
and no petition from an equal or greater number of
such ratepayers was presented to His Excellency
within two months after such public notification
praying him not to assent to the prayer of such first-
mentioned petition:
