Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the
said Act shall come into force, in respect of all elec-
tive offices of the Heathcote Road Board, within
the district known as the Heathcote Road Board
District.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and Baron
Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the County
of York, in the Peerage of the United
Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave of New
Ross, in the County of Wexford, in the
Peerage of Ireland; a Member of Her
Majesty's Most Honorable Privy Coun-
cil; Knight Commander of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
third day of July, in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-seven.

late Superintendent of Otago under the powers
delegated to him under "The Gold Fields Act,

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this
third day of July, 1877.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS under and by virtue of the powers
delegated to the Executive Government of
the then Province of Otago under "The Gold Fields
Act, 1866" (hereinafter called "the said Act"),
certain regulations were, on the eleventh day of
January, one thousand eight hundred and seventy,
made by the Superintendent of the said province for
the granting of gold mining leases on the gold fields
therein mentioned; and, by virtue of the same powers,
and on the same day, certain other regulations were
made by the Superintendent of the said province for
the granting of agricultural leases in the gold fields
therein also mentioned, and which said regulations
were severally made by order in Council published
in the Provincial Government Gazette of the said
province on the fourteenth day of January, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy: And whereas,
by an Order in Council made under the said Act, the
Governor delegated unto J. P. Maitland, Esquire, the
Commissioner of Crown Lands of the Provincial
District of Otago, all the powers vested in the
Governor in Council or Governor under the sections
of the said Act therein mentioned, and to be exer-
cised and performed by the said J. P. Maitland within
the said district in the manner therein particularly
set forth, and which said Order in Council is pub-
lished in the New Zealand Gazette of the twenty-
fourth day of January, one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-seven: And whereas it is expedient that
certain of the hereinbefore mentioned regulations
should be altered as hereinafter set forth:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in
pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
vested in me by the said Act, do hereby order and
declare that whenever in the said several regulations
of the eleventh day of January, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy, any act or thing is required to
be done or performed by the Superintendent, such
Extension of Time for Election, Stoney Creek Sub-
division of Crichton Road Board District.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by "The Otago Roads Ordinance
1871 Amendment Ordinance, 1874," it is
enacted that, if from any cause whatever the persons
entitled to vote at any election for any district or for
any subdivision of any district shall fail or neglect to
hold an election of members of the District Board of
such district on the day appointed by the said
Ordinance for that purpose, it shall be lawful for
the Superintendent, by Proclamation in the Gazette,
to appoint a day for the holding of such election;
and an election may be held upon the day so
appointed, and the election so held shall, for all
purposes whatsoever, be deemed to have been duly
held on the day appointed by the said Ordinance for
holding the same: And whereas by "The Abolition
of Provinces Act, 1875," the powers and authorities
theretofore vested in the Superintendents of pro-
vinces became and are now vested in the Governor:
And whereas the persons entitled to vote at elections
of members for the Stoney Creek Subdivision of the
Crichton Road Board District failed, on the ninth
day of June, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
seven (the day appointed for the holding of such an
election), to hold such election:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise
of the powers and authorities vested in me by
the said Ordinance and Act, do hereby appoint
Saturday, the twenty-first day of July, one thou-
sand eight hundred and seventy-seven, at twelve
o'clock noon, at Rae's Hotel, Stoney Creek, as
the time and place for the holding of an election
(by the persons entitled to vote thereat) of members
of the Crichton Road Board for the Stoney Creek
Subdivision of the said Crichton Road Board District.
