for the District of Maketu, vice F. E. Hamlin, Esq.,

Certificate of Execution.

THE following certificate and declaration are pub-
lished in conformity with the provisions of "The
Execution of Criminals Act, 1858."

CHARLES C. BOWEN.

I, THOMAS MOORE PHILSON, M.D., the Medical Officer
in attendance at the execution of Te Patui, alias Te
Patite Mohi, at the Gaol of Auckland, do hereby certify
and declare that I have this day witnessed the exe-
cution of the said Te Patui, alias Te Pati te Mohi, at
the said Gaol; and I do further certify and declare
that the said Te Patui, alias Te Pati te Mohi, was, in
pursuance of the sentence of the Supreme Court,
hanged by the neck until his body was dead.

Given under my hand, this twenty-third day
of May, 1877, at the Gaol of Auckland.

We do hereby certify and declare that we have this
day been present when the extreme penalty of the
law was carried into execution on the body of Te
Patui, alias Te Pati te Mohi, convicted at the Criminal
Session of the Supreme Court held at Auckland on
the tenth day of April last, and sentenced to death;
and that the said Te Patui, alias Te Pati te Mohi,
was, in pursuance of the said sentence, hanged by
the neck until his body was dead.

Dated this twenty-third day of May, in the
year 1877, at the Gaol of Auckland.

the Colonial Government Steamer "Hinemoa,"
has reported the existence of the under-mentioned
dangers in Dusky Sound, which are not marked on
the Admiralty Chart.
