THE following despatch from Her Majesty's Prin-
cipal Secretary of State for the Colonies is pub-
lished for general information.

MY LORD, -I have the honor to acknowledge the
receipt of your Lordship's Despatch, No. 3, of the
10th January last, recommending that Mr. Richard-
son, who has held the office of Minister for Public
Works from 1872, should be permitted, on his retire-
ment from that office, to retain the title of Honor-
able.
In reply, I have to inform you that Her Majesty
has been graciously pleased to approve of Mr.
Richardson retaining the title of Honorable within
the Colony of New Zealand.

to be Town Clerk of the Borough of Caversham, as
constituted by Proclamation of date 28th May in-
stant; and
WILLIAM MILNE
to be Returning Officer, to hold the first election of
Mayor, Councillors, and Auditors of the said Borough.
Also, to appoint Wednesday, the 27th day of June, for
the election of Mayor; and Friday, the 29th day of
June, for the election of Councillors; and Friday, the
13th day of July, for the election of Auditors. Also,
to appoint Tuesday, the 3rd day of July, for the first
meeting of the Council of the said Borough; and
the Schoolhouse, Caversham, to be the place of such
meeting.
