Facile Harbour.
A LEDGE of rocks with about nine feet of water on
it in the centre of the entrance to the Cove in the
N.E. side of Facile Harbour.
Duck Cove.
A sunken rock on the eastern side; distance from
Porpoise Point, about one-third of a mile W.
by N., with about six feet of water on it at low
water.

THE following Notice to Mariners received from
the Port Master at Brisbane is published for
general information.

SOUTH ENTRANCE TO MORETON BAY.
THE detached bank at the outer edge of the bar
at the South Passage--which, by the notice published
in June, 1875, had to be passed at a short cable's
distance-having now worked further to the south-
ward, the directions for crossing the bar with the
knoll in line with the triple hill are no longer appli-
cable. The bar should now be crossed with the
beacons in line, or open to the southward about four
or five times their own width, when a depth of not
less than 14 feet will be found at low-water springs.
There is now a depth of 5ft. at low water over the
detached bank.

INQUIRIES have been made respecting a man
named
THOMAS TAMPILT,
who, after residing some time at Christchurch, Can-
terbury, is said to have left that place for Melbourne,
on his way to England, in September, 1871.
Any one possessing information relative to the
above-named, especially as to whether he left
Christchurch as above stated, and, if so, in what
ship, is requested to communicate the same to this
office.

Inquiry for Missing Person.

INQUIRY has been made by Winslow Morton, of
19, Clifton Road, Worthing, Sussex, England,
respecting his son,
WILLIAM MORTON (or W. B. MORTON),
whom he last heard of at the Thames Gold Field,
Auckland, about eight years ago. Morton had then
a share in some claims, and also kept a store. He
was a fine-looking man, about thirty years of age;
had been a sailor, but latterly had been gold digging,
and had visited most of the New Zealand gold fields.
Any one possessing information relative to the
above-named William Morton, is requested to com-
municate the same to this office.

SEALED Tenders will be received at the General
Post Office, Wellington, until noon of Saturday,
the sixteenth day of June proximo, for the convey-
ance of Mails twice a week each way between Mas-
terton and Palmerston North by way of the Seventy-
Mile Bush, for a period of six months from the 1st
of July next.
