Proclaiming Roslyn a Borough under "The
Municipal Corporations Act, 1876."

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section seventeen of "The Muni-
cipal Corporations Act, 1876," the Governor is
empowered by Proclamation to declare any district
in New Zealand to be a borough under the said Act
from and after a day to be named in such Proclama-
tion :

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
power and authority vested in me by the said Act, do
hereby proclaim and declare that the district of
Roslyn shall be and the same is hereby constituted,
as from the twelfth day of May, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-seven, a borough under the said
Act; and that the name of such borough shall be the
Borough of Roslyn, and the boundaries of such
borough shall be those specified in the Schedule
hereto.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area bounded towards the North-west by
Sections numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, Block V.,
Lower Kaikorai District; towards the South-west by
other part of said Section 1, Block V.; again towards
the North-west by Sections numbered 10, 11, 12, 13,
14, 15, 16, and 17, Block IV., and Section numbered
10, Block III., Upper Kaikorai District; towards
the North-east by Sections numbered 3, 5, and 7,
Block III., and Section 5, Block I., Upper Kaikorai
District; towards the South-east by the Dunedin
Town Belt; and towards the South-west by Section
86, Block VI., Town District, and by a straight line
from the North-eastern corner of said Section 86 to
the South-western corner of Section numbered 6,
Block V., Lower Kaikorai District, being the starting
point.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and Baron
Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the County
of York, in the Peerage of the United
Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave of New
Ross, in the County of Wexford, in the
Peerage of Ireland; a Member of Her
Majesty's Most Honorable Privy Coun-
cil; Knight Commander of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
twelfth day of May, in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-seven.

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!

Corporation has been established under the provi-
sions of an Ordinance of the Province of Otago
intituled "The Otago Municipal Corporations Ordi-
nance, 1865," to be a borough constituted under the
said "Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," from a
day to be named in such Proclamation: subject,
however, to certain conditions in the said section
mentioned: And whereas the Town of Tapanui, in
the Provincial District of Otago, is one of the places
specified in the said Third Schedule, and a petition
has been presented to His Excellency the Governor
by fifty-one of the ratepayers of such town praying
him to constitute such town into a borough under
the said "Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," and
such petition was on the seventh day of March, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-seven, publicly
notified, and no petition from an equal or greater
number of such ratepayers was presented to His
Excellency within two months after such public
notification praying him not to assent to the prayer
of such first-mentioned petition:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in
exercise and pursuance of all powers and authori-
ties enabling him in that behalf, doth hereby
proclaim and declare that from the twelfth day
of May, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
seven, the said Town of Tapanui shall be a borough
constituted under the said "Municipal Corporations
Act, 1876," and shall be called the Borough of
Tapanui; and that the boundaries of such borough
shall be those specified in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land in the Provincial District of
Otago, containing by admeasurement seventy (70)
acres, more or less. Bounded by a line commencing
at the south-western angle of Section 16, Block XIII.,
Glenkenich District, and proceeding in an Easterly
direction along the southern boundaries of Sections
16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, and 22, Block XIII., and
Section 3, Block IV., Glenkenich District, four
thousand and eighty (4080) links; thence in a
Southerly direction along the western boundary of
Section 1, Block IX., Glenkenich District, and across
road line, two thousand two hundred and four (2204)
links; thence in a South-westerly direction along the
boundary of the said Section 1, two hundred and
seventeen (217) links; thence in a West-north-
westerly direction across road line and along the
boundary of Section 23 of the said Block XIII., one
thousand three hundred and eighty (1380) links;
thence in a North-westerly direction along the
boundary of Section 63, one hundred and twelve
(112) links; thence in a North-westerly direction
along the boundary of the said Section 63, one thou-
sand four hundred and seventy-seven (1477) links;
thence in a Westerly direction along the boundaries
of Sections 63 and 24 of the said Block XIII., one
thousand three hundred and seventeen (1317) links;
thence in a Northerly direction along the eastern
boundaries of Sections 24 and 15 of the said Block
XIII., one thousand four hundred (1400) links, to
the starting point.
