THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
power and authority vested in me by the said Act,
do hereby proclaim that the confiscated lands in the
Land District of Auckland which are particularly
described in the Schedule hereto, shall be and the
same are hereby declared to be waste lands of the
Crown.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Provincial District of Auckland,
bounded towards the North by the Mangakapua Stream
from a point near peg 99 to its confluence with the
Mangaruhi Stream, thence by the Mangaruhi Stream
to its confluence with the Wairoa River, thence by
the Wairoa River to the confluence of the Manga-
poiki River, thence by the Mangapoiki River to a
point North of Trigonometrical Station Orahi, 151000
links; towards the East by a right line bearing South
31' 19" west from the Mangapoiki Stream through
Trigonometrical Station Orahi to the Makaretu
Stream, thence by the Makaretu Stream to the inter-
section of the aforesaid right line through Orahi,
thence by the said line to the Kauhauroa Stream, 37760
links; towards the South by the Kauhauroa Stream
to its confluence with the Waiau River, thence by
the Waiau River to the confluence of the Waikare
Taheke, 210400 links; towards the West by the
Waikare Taheke and a line bearing North 34Β°09'
East from the said river through pegs 103 and 99 to
the Mangakapu Stream at the starting point, 53400
links; be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.

Excepting out of the afore-mentioned area sections
numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14,
15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28,
29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42,
43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56,
57, 58, 59, 60, 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 66, 67, 68, 69, 70,
71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, 78, 79, 80, 81, 83, 84, 85,
86, 87, 88, 89, 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99,
100, 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 106, 107, 108, 109, 110,
115, 116, 117, 118, 119, 120, 121, being land selected
by military settlers originally; also, blocks numbered
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18,
19, being land selected by military settlers under
Order in Council dated 4th March, 1874; also, the
Pakowhai Block, being a Native reserve; and also,
the Township reserve at the confluence of the Wairoa
and Waiau Rivers.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and
Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the
County of York, in the Peerage of the
United Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave
of New Ross, in the County of Wexford,
in the Peerage of Ireland; a Member of
Her Majesty's Most Honorable Privy
Council; Knight Commander of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand, and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at
the Government House, at Wellington,
this twelfth day of April, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-seven.

Altering Regulations for the Depasturing of Stock
upon certain Waste Lands of the Crown within
the Otago Gold Field.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the fourteenth section of "The
Gold Fields Act, 1866," it is enacted, that it
shall be lawful for the Governor from time to time
to make, alter, and revoke regulations for the de-
pasturing of stock upon any lands within proclaimed
gold fields for which a lease or license for de-
pasturing purposes has not been granted, or has been
cancelled or suspended, and to regulate the number
of horses or cattle which may be run upon such
lands by the holders of miners' rights and business
licenses, or of mining, mineral, and agricultural leases,
or by other persons, and to issue depasturing
licenses, and to regulate the fees that shall be paid
therefor: And whereas by a Proclamation bearing
date the fourth day of March, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-four, and published in the
Otago Provincial Government Gazette, No. 897, on
the fifth day of March, one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-four, the Executive Government of the
Province of Otago did, by virtue and in exercise of
the powers delegated to them by the Governor in
Council in that behalf, make certain regulations
under the said fourteenth section of "The Gold
Fields Act, 1866," for the depasturing of stock upon
the lands described in the First and Second Schedules
to the said Proclamation: And whereas it is expe-
dient to alter the said regulations so made by the
said Executive Government of the said Province of
Otago in certain particulars :

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
power and authority enabling me in that behalf, do
hereby proclaim and declare that from and after the
day of the date hereof the said regulations so made
by the said Executive Government of the Province
of Otago as aforesaid shall be altered by substituting
the Commissioner of Crown Lands for the Provincial
District of Otago for the Superintendent wherever
the word Superintendent occurs in the said regula-
tions; and I do hereby further proclaim and declare
that the said regulations shall henceforth be read
and construed as if wherever in the said regulations
the word Superintendent occurs the words "Com-
missioner of Crown Lands for the Provincial District
of Otago for the time being" had been inserted in
lieu thereof; and I do hereby order and declare that
all powers and authorities by virtue hereof and of
the said regulations to be exercised by the said Com-
missioner of Crown Lands shall be so exercised,
subject to the consent and approval of the Waste
Lands Board of the said Provincial District of Otago.
