Appointing the Corporation of the Town of Oamaru to execute Ordinances of Otago intituled “The Common Lodging-Houses’ Ordinance, 1862,” and “The Common Lodging Houses Ordinance Amendment Ordinance, 1864.”

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Superintendent of the Province of Otago, with the advice and consent of the Provincial Council thereof, intituled “The Common Lodging-Houses’ Ordinance, 1862,” it is enacted that the said Ordinance shall apply within and throughout the City of Dunedin and Town of Port Chalmers respectively, and within and throughout all other towns, districts, and places to which the Superintendent, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, may think fit to extend it, upon notice of such extension being published in the Provincial Government Gazette; and it is further enacted that the said Ordinance shall be executed within and for all or any parts of any other town, district, or place by such body or person or persons as the Superintendent, with the advice of the Executive Council, may see fit to appoint:

And whereas the said Ordinance has been amended by “The Common Lodging Houses Ordinance Amendment Ordinance, 1864”:

And whereas by a Proclamation dated the twenty-sixth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-six, and published in the Otago Provincial Government Gazette of the twenty-seventh day of September, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-six, the Superintendent of the Province of Otago, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council thereof, did extend the said “Common Lodging-Houses’ Ordinance, 1862,” and “The Common Lodging Houses Ordinance Amendment Ordinance, 1864,” to the Town of Oamaru in the said Province of Otago:

And whereas by “The Abolition of Provinces Act, 1875,” all the powers, duties, and functions by the said Ordinances vested in or to be exercised or performed by the Superintendent of the said province are now vested in and are to be executed and performed by the Governor:

And whereas it is expedient to appoint the Corporation of the Town of Oamaru to execute the said “Common Lodging-Houses’ Ordinance, 1862,” and

“Common Lodging Houses Ordinance Amendment Ordinance, 1864,” within and for the Town of Oamaru:

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine, Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said recited Acts, do hereby proclaim and appoint the Corporation of the Town of Oamaru to execute the several provisions of the said “Common Lodging-Houses’ Ordinance, 1862,” and “The Common Lodging Houses Ordinance Amendment Ordinance, 1864,” within and for the said Town of Oamaru.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Most Honorable George Augustus Constantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the County of York, in the Peerage of the United Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave of New Ross, in the County of Wexford, in the Peerage of Ireland; a Member of Her Majesty’s Most Honorable Privy Council; Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twelfth day of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy-seven.

Proclaiming certain Lands to be Waste Lands of the Crown.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by “The Waste Lands Administration Act, 1876,” it is, among other things, enacted that the Governor may from time to time, by Proclamation in the New Zealand Gazette, proclaim the confiscated lands within any land district to be waste lands of the Crown.
