Defining the Middle Line of part of the Railway
from Kaipara through Riverhead to Auckland.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the one hundred and twenty-
second section of "The Public Works Act,
1876," it is enacted that every railway shall be made
only under the authority of a special Act, which
shall state as nearly as may be the line of the railway
and the two termini thereof; and by the one hundred
and twenty-third section of the same Act, that the
several railways specified in the fourth schedule to
the said Act shall be deemed to have been made, and
in so far as any of them are unfinished may be com-
pleted, under the provisions of the Act now under
recital, and the said Act shall be deemed to be a
special Act authorizing the construction of each of
the said railways; and by the one hundred and
twenty-fourth section of the same Act, that when any
railway is to be constructed under the provisions of
any special Act the Governor shall issue a proclama-
tion defining the middle line of the railway or any
part thereof, and may from time to time, by a pro-
clamation revoking or amending such former pro-
clamation, alter such line in any manner or to any
extent which may be found necessary for the con-
struction of such railway within the provisions of the
said special Act; and by the one hundred and
twenty-fifth section of the same Act, that the Minis-
ter shall cause to be made and deposited in the office
of the Registrar of the Supreme Court such maps
and plans as may be necessary to explain the said
line and the land through which the same passes, and
such maps and plans shall be referred to in any such
proclamation; and whereas the railway from Kaipara
through Riverhead to Auckland is one of the rail-
ways specified in the said fourth schedule, and the
same is unfinished, and it has been determined to
construct and maintain a further portion of such
railway:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the
powers and authorities conferred on me by "The
Public Works Act, 1876," and in exercise of every
other power and authority enabling me in that
behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the
middle line of the said further portion of the said
railway shall be that defined and set forth in the
Schedule hereto, and that the two termini of the said
line shall be No. 23, Section 4, Parish of Waite-
mata, County Eden, and Section 90, Parish of Wai-
komiti, County Waitemata. The said middle line
and the land through which the same passes are
set forth in the map and plan marked P.W.D.
5682, and authenticated for the purposes of this
Proclamation by the signature of the Honorable
John Davies Ormond, Minister for Public Works,
and which said map and plan is deposited in the
Office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court at
Auckland.
SCHEDULE.
COMMENCING at a point in No. 23, Section 4, Parish
of Waitemata, County Eden, about 8 chains south of
Newmarket Station, and running thence generally in
a South-westerly direction in the manner delineated
on the map and plan marked P.W.D. 5682, signed by
the Honorable John Davies Ormond, Minister for
Public Works, deposited in the office of the Registrar
of the Supreme Court, at Auckland; and terminating
at a point in Section 90, Parish of Waikomiti, County
Waitemata, the total length being 9 miles 61 chains,
or thereabouts.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and Baron
Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the County
of York, in the Peerage of the United
Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave of New
Ross, in the County of Wexford, in the
Peerage of Ireland; a Member of Her
Majesty's Most Honorable Privy Coun-
cil; Knight Commander of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael
and Saint George; Governor and Com-
mander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Depen-
dencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same;
and issued under the Seal of the said
Colony, at the Government House, at
Wellington, this eighteenth day of April,
in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-seven.

Proclaiming Parnell a Borough under "The
Municipal Corporation Act, 1876,"

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by section seventeen of "The Muni-
cipal Corporation Act, 1876," the Governor is
empowered by Proclamation to declare any district
in New Zealand to be a borough under the said Act
from and after a day to be named in such Proclama-
tion:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
power and authority vested in me by the said Act, do
hereby proclaim and declare that the district of the
Town of Parnell shall be and the same is hereby
constituted, as from the nineteenth day of April,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-seven, a
borough under the said Act; and that the name of
such borough shall be the Borough of Parnell, and
the boundaries of such borough shall be those
specified in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that district or parcel of land situated in the
Riding of Parnell and County of Eden, in the Colony
of New Zealand, and bounded on the West by the
City of Auckland, as defined in the Schedule to "The
City Board Act, 1863," and by the north and east
boundaries of the Government Domain to Whitson's
Brewery Road; on the South by the north side of
Whitson's Brewery Road aforesaid to the east side
of the Epsom Road; on the East by the east side of
the Epsom Road aforesaid to the north side of the
Grammar School Road; again on the South by the
north side of the Grammar School Road aforesaid to
the middle of the Slaughter House Creek, thence by
the middle of said creek to Hobson's Bay; again on
the East by Hobson's Bay aforesaid; and on the
North by Waitemata Harbour, including Allotment
number one, of Section number thirty-one, of the City
of Auckland (being a Hospital endowment, Mechanics'
