quantity of land which may be taken for such line or
lines of road shall not be more than after the rate of
five acres in every one hundred acres: Provided
always that this power shall cease and determine at
the expiration of ten years from the date of the
grant: And whereas it is expedient that a fit and
proper person should be authorized to take and lay
down roads over the lands specified in the Schedule
hereto:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of all
powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf,
do hereby authorize James Daniel Baird, Provincial
District Engineer, of Wellington, to take and lay
down roads over the lands specified in the Schedule
hereto, and for that purpose to exercise all such
powers as by the said Act may be exercised by a
person legally authorized in that behalf under the
said Act.

Board appointed.
NORMANBY, Governor.
WHEREAS at the annual meeting of the rate-
payers of the Komokoriki Highway District,
in the County of Rodney, held on the twenty-first
day of July last, there were not present at such
meeting ten qualified persons, as is required by
section thirteen of "The (Auckland) Highways
Act, 1874," and such meeting was then adjourned
until the fourth day of August last; but there were
not then present at such meeting ten qualified persons,
and such meetings therefore failed to elect a District
Board and Auditors: And whereas it is expedient
to appoint a District Board and Auditors, as is autho-
rized by the said Act :
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the
powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act,
and by "The Abolition of Provinces Act, 1875," do
hereby appoint
HENRY PALMER,
HENRY MOIR,
JOHN GARDNER,
WALTER ELLEN, and
RICHARD TURVERY,
to be the District Board of the Komokoriki Highway
District for the ensuing year :
And I do further appoint
JOHN MARMONT and
CHARLES GARDNER
to be Auditors of the aforesaid Highway Board for
the ensuing year.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this twentieth day of December,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-

NORMANBY, Governor.
IN pursuance of the power and authority in me
vested in this behalf by "The Otago Waste
Lands Act, 1872," and "The Waste Lands Adminis-
tration Act, 1876," I hereby reserve the land in the
Provincial District of Otago, the boundaries whereof
are described in the Schedule hereunto annexed, and
for the purpose in the said Schedule specified.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece or parcel of land in the Provincial
District of Otago, containing by admeasurement five
(5) acres, more or less, being Section numbered sixty-
three (63) Block ten (X.), Tuapeka East District.
Bounded towards the north-west by a road line, seven
hundred and fifty (750) links; towards the north-east
by a road line four hundred (400) links; towards the
east by Crown lands, six hundred and fifty (650) links;
towards the south by Crown lands, nine hundred (900)
links; and towards the west by a road line, two hun-
dred (200) links; be all the aforesaid linkages more
or less. As a site for the Weatherstone District
School.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this nineteenth day of Decem-
ber, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-seven.

WHEREAS by the tenth section of "The Rabbit
Nuisance Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1877,"
it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Colonial
Treasurer to issue and pay, out of moneys appro-
priated for that purpose by the General Assembly, to
any person, for every rabbit-skin exported from the
colony by such person, the sum of one halfpenny
per skin: And whereas by the said Act it is further
enacted that the Governor may from time to time
make and revoke regulations prescribing the mode of
proving any claim as aforesaid, and the terms and
conditions under and subject to which such claims
shall be made and paid:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of all
powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf,
do hereby make the following general regulations,
which shall come into force on the twenty-first day
of December instant.
REGULATIONS.
- No person shall be entitled to receive any bonus
for rabbit-skins exported from the colony unless such
person (herein termed the " exporter"), or his agent
shall at the time of passing the export entry mal
