Appointment of Volunteer Officers.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased
to make the under-mentioned promotion and
appointments, viz.,-

In the Taranaki Rifle Volunteers.
Captain Harry Eyre Kenny (New Zealand Militia)
to be Captain. Date of commission, 20th May,
1876.
John Ellis to be Lieutenant. Date of commission,
20th May, 1876.
Josias Hoskin to be Sub-Lieutenant. Date of com-
mission, 20th May, 1876.

In the Canterbury Engineer Volunteers.
John Anderson, junior, to be Sub-Lieutenant. Date
of commission, 15th October, 1875.

In the Greymouth Rangers Rifle Volunteers.
Sub-Lieutenant John Hugh Arbuthnot Lyell to be
Lieutenant. Date of commission, 24th May, 1876.

In the Thames Engineer Cadets.
George James Lawlor to be Captain. Date of com-
mission, 23rd November, 1875.

In the Invercargill Rifle Volunteers.
Arthur Sedgley Hanan, L.R.C.S.E., &c., to be
Honorary Assistant Surgeon. Date of commission,
1st June, 1876.

In the Queenstown Rifle Volunteers.
Hugh Joseph Finn to be Captain. Date of com-
mission, 6th March, 1876.

In the Arrow Rifle Volunteers.
George Cecil Jackson, M.R.C.S.I., to be Honorary
Assistant Surgeon. Date of commission, 24th
May, 1876.

In the Palmerston (South) Rifle Volunteers.
Henry Kitchener to be Captain. Date of commis-
sion, 27th May, 1876.
Lorenzo Moore to be Lieutenant. Date of commis-
sion, 27th May, 1876.
William Affleck to be Sub-Lieutenant. Date of
commission, 27th May, 1876.
William Brown, L.R.C.P.E., to be Honorary Assis-
tant Surgeon. Date of commission, 27th May,
1876.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to
disband the under-mentioned Corps at their own
request, viz.,-
The Tauranga Light Horse Volunteers.
The Wairoa (Hawke's Bay) Rifle Volunteers.
The under-mentioned gentlemen have therefore
ceased to hold the rank of officers; their commissions
having, under the provisions of "The Volunteer Act,
1865," lapsed :-
David Connor, Esq., late Lieutenant, Tauranga
Light Horse Volunteers.
