HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to
disband
The Turakina Cavalry Volunteers
at their own request.
The under-mentioned gentlemen have therefore
ceased to hold the rank of officers; their commissions
having, under the provisions of "The Volunteer Act,
1865," lapsed:—
William T. Owen, Esq., late Captain.
Alexander Simpson, Esq., late Lieutenant.
Frank Y. Lethbridge, Esq., late Sub-Lieutenant.

Special Agreements for Seamen in the Home or Coast-
ing Trade.

Customs Department,
Wellington, 22nd June, 1876.

IT is hereby notified, for the information of ship-
owners and ship-masters, that His Excellency
the Governor, in pursuance of the provisions con-
tained in the 16th section of "The Merchant Ship-
ping Act, 1872," which was adopted and brought
into force in New Zealand by "The Merchant Ship-
ping Acts Adoption Act, 1874," has sanctioned forms
of Special Agreement for individual Seamen in the
Home or Coasting Trade, which agreements need not
expire half-yearly.

These forms can be had on application at the
various Custom Houses throughout the colony.

missioner of Customs by His Excellency the
Governor, the following appointment has been made
in the Customs Department: —

to be Cadet at the Port of Dunedin.

This appointment to date from the 1st of April,
1875.

THE cutting at the Upper Flats being completed, the
available depth at low-water springs at that and the
other shoal places in the river is now as follows:—

Second Flats, close to Nos. 14 and 15 Cross-

Brown's Crossing, between the black buoy
and No. 12 and 13 Crossing Marks ... 5 0
Crossing below Brown's Island, close to No.

The least depth at the crossings will be found at
the lower end of the shoal ground.
