  1. Horsemen or wheeled vehicles will not be
    allowed to travel at a greater rate than six miles an
    hour across the bridge.
  2. Traction engines, or engines employed in agri-
    culture, or flax-dressing, or any other purpose, will not
    be permitted on the bridge otherwise than on the
    goods wagons in use on the Provincial Government
    Railways.
  3. No greater weight than two tons gross on any
    one pair of wheels with tires less than five inches
    wide will be permitted to cross the bridge.
  4. In the event of a special train, the Provincial
    Government shall have the power to put in force the
    same restrictions as described in clause 2 for adver-
    tised trains.
  5. Any damage done to any part of the bridge by
    the contravention of any of the foregoing rules may
    be recovered by a summary process; and any person
    or persons entering upon the bridge within the pro-
    hibited hours, or resisting the gatekeepers in the
    execution of their duties, will be subject to a penalty
    hereinafter mentioned.
  6. Any person in a state of intoxication will not
    be permitted to enter upon the bridge whilst in such
    condition.
  7. Any person offending against any of these
    regulations will be liable to a penalty not exceeding
    ten pounds.

Additional Regulations under "The Electric
Telegraph Act, 1875."

NORMANDY, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
twentieth day of June, 1876.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by "The Electric Telegraph Act,
1875," it is, amongst other things, enacted
that it shall be lawful for the Governor, by Order in
Council, to make regulations for fixing and deter-
mining the fees, rates, or dues to be demanded and
received for the transmission of any despatch, mes-
sage, or communication by means of any telegraph
line, and for the delivery thereof, respectively; and
that such regulations shall have the force of law
when published in the Government Gazette of the
colony:

Now, therefore, His Excellency George Augustus
Constantine, Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and
exercise of the powers vested in him by the herein-
before recited Act, doth, with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council of New Zealand, make the
additional regulations contained in the Schedule
hereto: And in further pursuance and exercise of
the said powers, and with the like advice and consent
as aforesaid, His said Excellency doth hereby order
and declare that such regulations shall take effect
from and after the fifteenth day of June, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-six, and that
they shall be read with and form part of the regula-
tions now in force.

SCHEDULE.

The tariff rates at present in force, limiting the
receipt of telegrams by evening papers, between the
hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on week-days, to two

hundred (200) words at evening rates, shall, during
the present Session of Parliament, be extended to
five hundred (500) words between the same hours.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington,
this twentieth day of June, 1876.
Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the fifth
day of January, one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-five, certain fees mentioned in the Second
Schedule thereto were directed to be taken in District
Courts under "The Imprisonment for Debt Abolition
Act, 1874:" And whereas it is expedient to amend
the same:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in
pursuance and exercise of all powers and authorities
vested in him in this behalf, and by and with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council of New
Zealand, doth hereby amend the Second Schedule to
the Order in Council of the fifth day of January,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-five, by the
addition of the following proviso:--Provided, how-
ever, that in case any fee payable under the said
Second Schedule involve the payment of a fractional
part of a shilling, the entire shilling shall be payable
instead of such fractional part.

Notice under Section 12 of "The Public Revenues
Act, 1872."

Treasury,
Wellington, 15th May, 1876.

OFFICERS holding advances of Public Money are
hereby required to pay to the Public Account, at
the nearest branch of Bank of New Zealand,
the total unexpended balances in their hands on or
before Saturday, the 24th day of June proximo, so
as to close absolutely all Advance Accounts on that
date, and forthwith to transmit the Bank Receipt for
such repayments to the Treasury at Wellington.

As respects disbursements which officers may re-
quire to make between the date of refund of their
balances and the 30th June, special requisitions for
the amount required are to be made by telegram, but
such requisitions are not to include provision for
expenditure of the financial year 1876-77. Sums
required for the service of that year are to be applied
for by post in the usual form.

cargill, in the Province of Otago.

This appointment to take effect as and from the
first day of June, 1875.
