Inquiry for a Missing Person.

INQUIRIES have been made respecting a person
named
JOHN FICKINS,
who came to New Zealand in the ship "Whitehall,"
in 1873.
He is rather short, has a fair complexion, brown
hair, and two scars on his left cheek. He has also
an impediment in his speech. When last heard of,
in February, 1875, he was at Waddington Store, East
Malvern, Christchurch, Canterbury. At one time he
was on a farm belonging to Messrs. Ayers and Mar-
crofts, at East Malvern.
Any person possessing information respecting the
person above named is requested to communicate the
same to this office.

INQUIRIES have been made respecting persons
named
ALFRED GREIG, and
REBECCA GREIG,
who came to Auckland, New Zealand, in the
"Rouperel," in 1874.
Alfred Greig is fair, stout, and about 5 feet 3 inches
in height, and about 27 years old. He is by trade a
smith.
Rebecca Greig is fair, stout, and about 26 years
old. They are supposed to have proceeded to Wel-
lington shortly after arrival.
Any person possessing information respecting the
persons above named is requested to communicate the
same to this office.

INQUIRIES have been made respecting a person
named
PETER ARNOLD,
a native of Brighton, Sussex, who came to New Zea-
land in the "Lady Jocelyn," in the latter part of
1872.
He is of fair complexion, has auburn hair, and is
about 5 feet 8 inches in height. He has a mark on
the forehead, a scar from a burn when a child.
Any person possessing information respecting the
person above named is requested to communicate the
same to this office.

general information.

Superintendent's Office, Dunedin, 8th June, 1876.
SIR,-I have the honor to forward the enclosed returns and report from the Chief Cattle Inspector of
this province, for the six months ended 31st March, 1876, in terms of the 46th section of "The Diseased
Cattle Act, 1871."

SIR,-I have the honor to forward, for your information, returns called for by Colonial Secretary's
circular attached, under "The Diseased Cattle Act, 1871," for six months ending 31st March, 1876."
Returns show a total of 3 horses, 29 head of cattle, 208 sheep, and 5 pigs from Great Britain; 90 horses,
1,296 sheep, and 13 pigs from Australia.
I can still report all cattle within the province free from disease, nor has any existed for more than
five years.
