the purposes of this Proclamation by the signature of the Honorable Edward Richardson, Minister for Public Works, to be deposited in the office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court at Auckland; or within the limits of deviation set forth on the said plan by dotted red lines, being generally not more than 110 yards on either side of the said line, unless otherwise delineated on the aforesaid plan, and passing in, through, over or into the several places, lands, roads, streams and watercourses enumerated in the Second Schedule hereto.

SECOND SCHEDULE,
OR BOOK OF REFERENCE.

Lands and Roads, &c., proposed to be taken for the purposes of the portion of the Kawakawa Railway, hereinbefore described.

So much of the lands and roads hereinafter mentioned as are required for the said portion of the said railway along the line of the said railway hereinbefore defined or within the limits of deviation aforesaid, as the lands are described and defined in the plan or book of reference aforesaid.

PARISH OF RUAPEKAPEKA, COUNTY OF BEDFORD.

Ruapekapeka Block, Te Wharau Block, Government lands; lands marked on plan Maihe Pipine Cemetery, Government lands; lands marked on plan Tainga No. 1, Tainga No. 2, Tainga No. 3, Tainga No. 4, Maturahi, Maroro, Te Awahe, Government lands; lands marked on plan Wahi Tapu, Kapa, Matairiri No. 1, Government lands, and all adjoining and intervening places, lands, roads, streams and watercourses.

PARISH OF KAWAKAWA, COUNTY OF HOKIANGA.

Government lands, lands marked on plan Ngamahanga Puariri, Te Raupo, Pihimana (Te Kuru), Government lands; Church Mission Claim, Kawakawa River and all adjoining and intervening places, roads, lands, streams and watercourses.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Most Honorable George Augustus Constantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the County of York, in the Peerage of the United Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave of New Ross, in the County of Wexford, in the Peerage of Ireland; a Member of Her Majesty’s Most Honorable Privy Council; Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at Wellington, this twenty-first day of June, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy-six.

Notification of Governor’s Assent to Construction of Railway from Anderson’s Junction to Portobello, by the Dunedin, Peninsula, and Ocean Beach Railway Company (Limited).

WHEREAS by the seventh subsection of the fourth section of “The Railway Companies Act, 1875,” (hereinafter called “the said Act,”) it is, amongst other things, enacted that if any such proposed branch railway as is mentioned in the Act is approved of, and such approval is signified as hereinafter provided, then the company may proceed with the construction of such railway in accordance with the said Act: And it is further enacted that whenever the Governor shall approve of any proposed branch railway, he shall, by notice published in the New Zealand Gazette, declare his assent to the construction of the railway, and such notice, when so published, shall be sufficient notice to the company of such approval: And whereas the Dunedin, Peninsula, and Ocean Beach Railway Company (Limited) have deposited plans of a projected railway from Anderson’s Bay Junction to Portobello, at the office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court at Dunedin, and in other respects complied with the terms of the said Act: And whereas one-half of the whole body of the ratepayers resident within the highway districts through which the railway is proposed to be constructed have not objected to the construction of the railway: Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on him by the hereinbefore in part recited Act, and in exercise of every other power enabling him in this behalf, doth hereby notify and declare that he assents to the construction of the said railway from Anderson’s Bay Junction to Portobello.

Rules and Regulations under which Waitaki Bridge will be open for Ordinary Traffic.

NORMANBY, Governor.

IN pursuance of all powers and authorities vested in me for that purpose, I, George Augustus Constantine, Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby make the following Regulations authorizing traffic on, along, or across the Waitaki Bridge, on the North Otago Railways, in the Province of Otago, and fixing the times or occasions during or on which such traffic shall be allowed, and generally regulating such traffic, that is to say,—

  1. All horses crossing the bridge should be driven in harness, or led by bridle or halter; and cattle and sheep, &c., must have a man behind and before them.

  2. Horses or light-wheeled vehicles will not be allowed to enter upon the bridge within fifteen minutes, drays within thirty minutes, and cattle and sheep or pigs within one hour of the advertised time of arrival and departure of any train from the Waitaki Railway Station.
