CLASS V.—VIOLENT DISEASES OR DEATHS.
ORDER 1.—Accident or Negligence.—Fractures and Contusions, 1 (kick of a horse); Burns, 2; Drowned, 1 (fall from a vessel).

The deaths from Zymotic Diseases were 1 less than in November. While deaths from Measles have fallen from 15 to 7
(all of which were still in Dunedin), the deaths from Diarrhea have increased from 5 to 12; these last cases occurred only in
Auckland and Wellington. Constitutional Diseases have increased from 12 to 21; this is chiefly attributable to the number of
deaths (7) from Hydrocephalus (or Tubercular Meningitis). The deaths from Phthisis were slightly on the increase. In the three
cases of such deaths registered in Nelson, 2 were those of persons recently arrived, in a diseased state; no history is given with
the majority of these cases. Local and Developmental Diseases were slightly on the increase last month.

I, DAVID LEWIS, a Commissioner duly appointed by virtue of the Ordinance No. 15, Session XI., of
the Legislative Council of the Islands of New Zealand, to hear and decide Claims to Land by
persons claiming title, thereto from, through, or under the New Zealand Company, report that the Claims
of the under-mentioned persons having been duly referred to me for investigation, I do hereby decide
that the said persons are respectively entitled to Crown Grants of the land set against their names in
the annexed Schedule.
