Notice of Sittings of East Coast District Court.
NOTICE is hereby given, that during the year
1875, Sessions of the East Coast District Court
of New Zealand, for the despatch of Criminal and
Civil Business respectively, will be held at the times
and places hereinafter mentioned (subject to such
alterations as may be made from time to time in
that behalf), that is to say,-
- For criminal business only, at Napier upon the
16th day of January, March, May, July, September,
and November respectively, at 10 o'clock in the
morning. - For civil business only, at Napier aforesaid, upon
the 2nd and 17th days of each month in said year, at
10 o'clock in the morning. - For civil business only, at Waipawa upon the
11th day of January, 10th day of March, 7th day
of May, 5th day of July, 2nd day of September, 1st day
of November, and 29th day of December respectively,
at the said hour of 10 o'clock a.m. - For civil business only, at Gisborne upon the
3rd day of March, the 9th day of June, the 15th day
of September, and the 18th day of December respect-
ively, at the hour of 10 o'clock in the morning as
aforesaid.
Provided that in case any of the days so fixed as
Sunday or a holiday,
then the Court appointed for that day shall be holden
on the first day thereafter, not being a holiday.
Issued at Napier aforesaid, this 3rd day of Novem-
ber, 1874.

N.B.—The Auckland and Hokitika Hospitals are outside the boundaries of the respective boroughs.
The persons on board ships are not included in the numbers of the population.
The births were 294 in October, against 292 in September, while the deaths were 9 more in number than the deaths in
September.
Of the deaths, males contributed 63; females, 57: 56 of the deaths were of children under 5 years of age, being 43·07 of the
whole number; 29 of these were of children under 1 year of age.
The deaths of children under 5 years of age were fewer by 5 than those in September.
There were 7 deaths of persons of 65 years of age and upwards, viz.: 3 females from 70 to 73, and 3 males of 65, 67, and 76
respectively; 3 of these deaths occurred in Dunedin, 2 in Christchurch, and 2 in Auckland.
The following Table shows the Causes of the Deaths of Persons of both Sexes under 5 years of age and 5 years and upwards, and
the proportions per cent. of Deaths from each cause in the Boroughs named, and that were registered, during the month of
October, 1874.
