towards the South-west by the summit of the said
Tararua Mountains to the northern extremity of the
Hutt District; thence again towards the South-west
by the north-western boundary of the said Hutt
District; and towards the South by the northern
boundary of the Porirua District, including the
adjacent islands.
68. PALMERSTON DISTRICT.
Bounded towards the North and North-west by
the Manawatu and Oroua Rivers to the source of the
Oroua River; thence by a line to the summit of the
nearest peak of the Tararua Mountains; thence by
straight lines from peak to peak along the summit of
the Tararua Mountains to a point due east of the
most easterly source of the Ohau River and by the
south bank of the said River Ohau to the sea; and
thence towards the West by the sea to the mouth of
the Manawatu River.
69. FOXTON DISTRICT.
Bounded towards the North by the Rangitikei
River to the north-western corner of the Rangitikei
Manawatu Block; thence by the northern boundary
of the said block to the Oroua River; thence by the
Oroua and Manawatu Rivers to the sea; and thence
towards the West by the sea from the Manawatu
River to the mouth of the Rangitikei River.
70. RANGITIKEI DISTRICT.
Bounded towards the North and the North-west
by the Turakina River from its mouth to the northern
corner of the Rangitikei Block; thence by the north-
eastern boundary of the said block to the Rangitakei
River; thence towards the South-east and South by
the Rangitikei River to its mouth; and thence
towards the West and South-west by the sea to the
mouth of the Turakina River.
71. WANGAEHU DISTRICT.
Bounded towards the North by the Wanganui
River from the sea to the north-eastern boundary
of the Wanganui Block; thence along that boundary
of the said block to the Wangaehu River; thence
by a straight line across the Wangaehu River to the
northern corner of the Rangitikei Block on the Tura-
kina River; thence by that river to the sea; and
thence by the sea to the mouth of the Wanganui
River.
72. ΚΑΙ IWI DISTRICT.
Bounded on the East by the Wanganui River from
its mouth at the sea to Parakino; thence on the
North-east by a straight line drawn from Parakino
aforesaid bearing on the summit of Mount Egmont to
the point where the said line strikes the Waitotara
River; on the West by the Waitotara River to the
sea; and on the South by the sea to the mouth of the
Wanganui River; excepting the town of Wanganui
herein next described.
73. TOWN OF WANGANUI DISTRICT.
Bounded towards the North-east and South-east
by the Wanganui River; and towards the South-wes
and North-west by the Town Belt. Together with
the parcel of land adjoining the Town of Wanganui,
and commonly known as the Town Belt, granted to
the Superintendent of the Province of Wellington
by Letters Patent or Crown Grant dated the third
day of June, 1861, under the Public Seal of the
Colony and the hand of Thomas Gore Browne, the
then Governor thereof.
74. WAITOTARA DISTRICT.
Bounded on the East by the Waitotara River on
western boundary of Kai Iwi District; on the North-
east by the straight line aforesaid bearing on the
summit of Mount Egmont drawn from Parakino on
the Wanganui River, being the north-eastern bound-
ary of the confiscated land; on the north-west by the
boundary line between the Provinces of Wellington
and Taranaki to the sea coast; and on the South-west
by the sea from the mouth of the Patea River to the
mouth of the Waitotara River.
PROVINCE OF TARANAKI.
75. PATEA DISTRICT..
Bounded on the East from the mouth of the River
Patea by the boundary line between the Provinces of
Taranaki and Wellington; on the North-east by a
straight line bearing on the summit of Mount
Egmont drawn from Parakino on the Wanganui
River to the point where the said line is intersected
by the Kairoa and Waimate Road; and from that
point of intersection, on the West by the said Kairoa
and Waimate Road and the Waimate Stream to the
sea; and on the South by the sea from the Waimate
Stream to the mouth of the Patea River.
76. EGMONT DISTRICT.
Bounded on the East by the Patea District from
the mouth of the Waimate Stream to the intersection
of the Kairoa and Waimate Road by the straight
line drawn from Parakino on the Wanganui River
bearing on the summit of Mount Egmont; on the
North-east from the said point of intersection by the
last-named straight line to the said summit of Mount
Egmont; on the East by a straight line drawn from
the said summit of Mount Egmont to the southern
angle of the Grey Block; on the North-east by the
south-western boundary of the said block to the sea;
and on the West and South-west by the sea.
77. WAIONGONA DISTRICT.
Bounded on the East and North-east by a straight
line drawn from the summit of Mount Egmont to
the source of the Waiongona River, and by that river
to the sea; on the North-west by the sea; on the
South-west and West by the north-east and eastern
boundary of the Egmont District from the extreme
west point of the Grey Block to the summit of
Mount Egmont.
78. TOWN OF NEW PLYMOUTH DISTRICT.
Comprising the Town of New Plymouth and Town
Belt as laid out by the New Zealand Company.
79. WAITARA DISTRICT.
Bounded on the North-west and West by the sea
from the mouth of the Waiongona River to the
tunnel at Parininihi; and thence by a straight line
in a direction due east (true bearing) for a distance
of twenty miles; on the South-east by a straight line
drawn from the eastern extremity of said northern
boundary in a direction south 39° west (true bearing)
till it intersects the straight line between the summit
of Mount Egmont and Parakino on the Wanganui
River; on the South by the said last-named straight
line from its intersection with the said south-eastern
boundary to the summit of Mount Egmont; and
thence on the West and South-west by the east and
north-eastern boundaries of the Waiongona District,
from the summit of Mount Egmont to the source of
the Waiongona River; and by the said river to the sea.
PROVINCE OF MARLBOROUGH.
80. PELORUS DISTRICт.
Bounded towards the East by the Queen Charlotte
Sound District; towards the South by the Wairau
