south-eastern boundary of the Tauranga District,
hereinbefore defined, to the sea.
44. OPOTIKI DISTRICT.
Bounded towards the North by the sea, from a
point five miles east of the mouth of the Matata
River, to the mouth of the Waiaua River; towards
the East and North-east by the Waiaua River and
the south-western boundary of the Opape Native
Reserve to its intersection with the confiscation
boundary; again towards the north by a straight line
drawn from that point of intersection due east to the
summit of the watershed between the Bay of Plenty
and the East Coast; towards the South-east by the
summit of that watershed and by a line bearing
22° 30′ West to the confluence of the Waiaua and
Waikaretaheki Rivers; thence towards the south-
west by a line to the southern angle of the Maketu
District, hereinbefore defined; and thence towards
the West by the eastern boundary of that district.
45. CAPE RUNAWAY DISTRICT.
Bounded towards the North-west and North by
the sea, from the Waiaua River to the Matakawa
point; towards the South-east by the summit of the
watershed between the Bay of Plenty and the East
Coast, and along that watershed till it meets the
boundary of the Opotiki District; and towards the
South, South-west, and West by the Opotiki District
to the commencing point.
46. EAST CAPE DISTRICT.
Bounded on the North and East by the sea from
Matakawa Point to the mouth of the Waimata River
at Turanganui; thence by the said River Waimata to
its source; thence by a line to Maungahaumi; and
thence towards the North-west by the south-eastern
boundary of the Opotiki District; including the ad-
jacent islands.
47. POVERTY BAY DISTRICT.
Bounded on the North-east by a line commencing
at Maungahaumi; thence to the source of the
Waimata River; thence to the mouth of the same
river at Turanganui; thence along the sea coast
to Paretu; thence towards the south-west by a line
from Paretu to the confluence of the Waiaua and
Waikaretaheki Rivers; thence along the south-
eastern boundary of the Opotiki District to Mau-
ngahaumi.
48. WAIROA DISTRICT.
Bounded towards the North-east by the south-
western boundary of the Waipu District, herein-
before defined; towards the East and South-east by
the sea from Paretu to the mouth of the Tonghoio
River; towards the South-west by that river to its
source, and by a line drawn north-west from the
source of the said river to the northern boundary of
the Province of Hawke's Bay; and towards the
North-west by a line drawn from the last-mentioned
point to the confluence of the Waiaua and Waikare-
taheki Rivers.
49. TAUPO DISTRICT.
Comprising all that portion of the Province of
Auckland which is not included in any of the districts
hereinbefore defined, and also all that portion of the
Province of Wellington which lies to the north
of the 39° 15' parallel of south latitude, and also all
that portion of the Province of Hawke's Bay which
lies north of the River Mohaka between the eastern
boundary of the last-named Province and the south-
western boundary of the Wairoa District, hereinbefore
defined.
PROVINCE OF HAWKE'S BAY.
50. PETANE DISTRICT.
Bounded on the North by the Mohaka River; on
the North-east by the south-west boundary of the
Wairoa District to the sea; thence on the East by
the sea to the mouth of the Ahuriri Harbour; thence
by a line across the said harbour to the mouth
of the Tutaekuri or Meanee River; and following up
that river to that point in its course where it intersects
the western boundary of the Province; and thence
along that boundary in a northerly direction to the
Mohaka River.
51. THE TOWN OF NAPIER DISTRICT.
Commences at the northern side of Alfred Street,
Meanee Spit, in the Town of Napier, and crosses
Ahuriri Harbour to the mouth of the River Meanee
or Tutaekuri, and following the bank of the said
river to Awatoto; thence by a due east line to the
sea coast, and along the sea coast in a northerly
direction to the point opposite the northern side of
Sections 68 and 69 Meanee Spit.
52. NGARURORO DISTRICT.
Bounded on the North by the southern boundaries
of the Petane and the Town of Napier Districts to
the sea; thence on the East by the sea to Wai-
marama; thence on the South-west by the northern
boundary of the Waipaoa District, herein next de-
fined; and on the North-west by the western bound-
ary of the Province.
53. WAIPAOA DISTRICT.
Commencing at Mount Park, on the Ruahine Range,
follows a line nearly due east to the west point of
the Kereru Bush, skirting the southern boundary of
the said bush to the boundary of Messrs. Smith and
Carlyon's runs; by the said boundaryto the source of
the Manga-o-nuku Stream following the Manga-o-
nuku down stream till it intersects the road leading
from Maraekakaho to Hampden; thence in an
easterly direction to the northern point of the Rau-
kawa Bush; thence due east to the Tuki Tuki
River, near Ngawhakatatara; across that river, and
by a line due east to the sea at Waimarama;
thence by the sea shore southerly to Black Head;
thence from the sea coast proceeding westerly along
the south boundary of the Hapuku Block to the
Huatokitoki; following down that stream to the
Tauraekaitae Stream, following up that stream to
Lake Purinui; thence following the Purinui Stream
to its most southerly source; thence by a line bear-
ing south-westerly to the summit of the nearest peak
of the Puketoi Range; thence along that range by
straight lines down from peak to peak to Wahataura
on the southern boundary of the Province; thence on
the South and West by the said boundary of the
Province to Mount Park, the point of commence-
ment.
54. PORANGAHAU DISTRICT.
Bounded on the East by the sea from Black Head
to the Waimata River; thence on the South by the
southern boundary of the Province to Wahataura on
the Puketoi Range; and thence on the West and
North by the easterly and southerly boundaries of
the Waipaoa District, hereinbefore last defined.
PROVINCE OF WELLINGTON.
55. WHAREAMA DISTRICT.
Commencing on the sea coast at the mouth of the
Pahaoa River; thence up the said river to its junction
with the Wainuioru River; thence up the Wainuioru
