THE following Notices to Mariners, relative to the
navigation of Port Phillip, have been received
from the Government of Victoria, and are hereby
published for general information.

LIGHTSHIPS, PORT PHILLIP AND CORIO BAY.
MASTERS of vessels, pilots, and others are hereby
informed that during the repairs to the Lightship,
West Channel, the lights will be shown from the
Geelong lightship, which has been temporarily moored
in the west channel, but owing to the height of the
masts not being so great, the lights will not be visible
so far, and the lower light will be shown from abaft
instead of forward.
During the temporary removal of the Geelong
Ship Channel Lightship the light will be exhibited
from the spare lightship "Empire."
On or about the 19th proximo the revolving light
on board the Gellibrand's Point Lightship will be
replaced by a fixed bright light during the temporary
removal of the lightship for repairs.

SOUTH CHANNEL.
PILOTS, Masters, and others navigating the South
Channel of Port Phillip, are hereby informed that
the erection of the pile lighthouse at No. 10 buoy
will necessitate the removal of that buoy from the
1st of September next.
JETTY LIGHT, DROMANA.
On and after the 1st of September a green light
will be shown from the end of the jetty at Dromana,
visible four miles in clear weather.

THE following Notice to Mariners, relative to
lights at Greymouth, has been received from
the Chief Harbour Master of Westland, and is
hereby published for general information.

MIDDLE ISLAND (WEST COAST).
These lights are NOT to be used for crossing the
OUTER Bar.
AFTER the 4th September, 1873, two lights, coloured
red, will be shown for the guidance of vessels over
the inner bar, from two skeleton beacons, erected in
the western portion of the Town of Greymouth.
The south-eastern or high light is twenty feet, and
the north-western or lower light fifteen feet above
high water during ordinary spring tides. The lights
in one lead through the deepest water, over the
shallow at the lower part of the Cross Channel,
after passing the flagstaff inwards.
Mariners are cautioned that those lights are in no
way to interfere with the lights at the flagstaff, and
are only to be used for the navigation of that portion
of the river extending from the flagstaff to the foot
of Arney Street.
