THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

COUNTY OF WESTLAND.

  1. GREYMOUTH DISTRICT.
    Commencing at the mouth of the River Grey,
    thence up the southern bank of that river to its
    junction with the Arnold, thence up the Arnold to
    the northernmost point of Lake Brunner, thence in
    a straight line to the saddle between the sources of
    the Hurunui and Teremakau Rivers, thence down
    the River Teremakau to the sea coast.

  2. WAIMEA DISTRICT.
    Bounded on the North-east by the Teremakau
    River; on the South-east by the main range; on the
    South and South-west by the northern boundary of
    the Hokitika District; and on the North-west by the
    ocean beach.

  3. HOKITIKA DISTRICT.
    Bounded on the North-east by the Arahura River;
    on the south-east following the dividing range to the
    southern branch of the Hokitika River; thence along
    the said river to a point distant four miles from its
    junction with the Kokatahi River; and from thence
    in a line touching the south-western extremity of
    Mahinapua Lake to the ocean beach; and from thence
    along the ocean beach to the Arahura River.

  4. ROSS DISTRICT.
    Bounded on the North-east by the southern
    boundary of Hokitika District; on the South-east by
    the dividing range; on the South-west by the Wanga-
    nui River; and on the North-west by the ocean.

  5. OKARITA DISTRICT.
    Bounded on the North-east by the Wanganui
    River; on the South-east by the dividing range; on
    the South-west by the southern boundary of the
    County; and on the North-west by the ocean.

PROVINCE OF CANTERBURY.

  1. WAIPARA DISTRICT.
    Bounded on the North by the Province of Nelson;
    on the East by the sea; on the South by the southern
    bank of the River Waipara and the southern branch
    of that river to its source; thence by a straight line
    to the summit of Block Hill, and a line from thence
    passing over Ashley and Esk Head and Snowy Peak
    to the Teremakau Saddle.

  2. MOUNT GREY DISTRICT.
    Bounded on the North by the southern bank of
    the River Waipara and the southern branch of that
    river to its source; thence by a straight line to the
    summit of Block Hill; thence by a straight line to
    the source of the River Ashley; on the West and
    South by the northern bank of the Ashley; and on
    the East by the sea.

  3. OXFORD DISTRICT.
    Bounded on the Northward by the southern bank
    of the Ashley; on the Eastward by a north and south
    line through Trigonometrical station C. 29; and on
    the Southward by the southern bank of the Waimaki-
    riri.

  4. RANGIORA DISTRICT.
    Commencing on the south bank of the River
    Ashley where crossed by the North Road, following
    along the road southerly to its junction with the
    Rangiora Road near Woodend, thence south-westerly
    in a direct line to Trigonometrical station M. 17,
    thence westerly in a direct line through Trigono-
    metrical station M. 40 till it meets a north and south
    line through Trigonometrical station C. 29, thence
    northerly along the said line to the southern bank of
    the Ashley, and thence easterly along the southern
    bank of the Ashley to the commencing point.

  5. ΚΑΙΑΡΟI DISTRICT.
    Bounded on the Northward and Westward by the
    Rangiora and Oxford Districts; on the Eastward by
    the sea; and on the Southward by the Christchurch
    District (southern bank of Waimakiriri).

  6. CHRISTCHURCH DISTRICT.
    Comprises that portion of the Province of Canter-
    bury from the south bank of the Waimakiriri to the
    north bank of the Rakaia, except the Lyttelton,
    Akaroa, and Ellesmere Districts.

  7. LYTTELTON DISTRICT.
    From the Old Ferry over the Heathcote at the
    end of the ferry road, thence along the south bank
    of the estuary of the Avon and Heathcote, and the
    sea coast (including the islands in Port Victoria), to
    a point half-way between the eastern headland of
    Port Levy and the western headland of Pigeon Bay,
    thence to the north branch of the Little River, thence
    down the course of that river and Lake Forsyth to
    the sea, thence along the east edge of Lake Ellesmere
    to the River Hulswell, Cooper's Knobs, thence along
    the highest ridge of the hills to the Flagstaff on.
    Mount Pleasant, thence in a right line to the starting
    point.

  8. AKAROA DISTRICT.
    Comprises all that portion of the Province lying
    to the eastward of the Lyttelton District.

  9. ELLESMERE DISTRICT.
    Comprises that portion of the Province of Canter-
    bury bounded on the North and East by the south
    bank of the River Selwyn, Lake Ellesmere, and the
    sea; on the South by the north bank of the River
    Rakaia; and on the West by the Great South Road.

  10. ASHBURTON DISTRICT.
    Comprises that portion of the Province of Canter-
    bury from the north bank of the Rakaia, including the
    islands, to the north bank of the Rangitata.

  11. GERALDINE DISTRICT.
    Bounded on the North by the south bank of the
    Rangitata; on the West by the County of Westland
    and the summit of the Two Thumb Range through
    Burke's Pass to McKenzie's Pass; on the South
    by the south bank of the Tengawai and Opihi; and
    on the East by the sea.

  12. TIMARU DISTRICT.
    Bounded on the North by the south bank of the
    Opihi, and the south bank of the Tengawai from
    the sea to McKenzie's Pass, and by the summit of
    the range through Burke's Pass; thence along the
    Two Thumb Range to the Westland boundary; on
