2. Out of the said lands the Minister for Public
Works for the time being may select and set apart
such portions thereof as he may deem necessary, as
reserves for purposes of public utility or convenience:
Provided that the area and situation of every such
intended reserve, together with a statement of the
purpose for which it is intended to be used, shall be
transmitted by the said Minister to the Governor for
his approval, and without such approval no such
reserve shall be made.

  1. Upon the approval of the Governor being signi-
    fied to the said Minister, he shall cause a notification
    of the fact of such reserve having been made, stating
    therein the purposes for which it is intended to be
    used, and that the Governor has approved thereof, to
    be published in the New Zealand Gazette; and there-
    upon such reserve shall be and be deemed so
    effectually made for the purposes in such notification
    mentioned.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this
thirtieth day of April, 1873.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE OFFICER ADMINISTERING
THE GOVERNMENT IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by "The Merchant Ships Officers
Examination Act, 1870," it is, among other
things, enacted that, for the purposes of the examina-
tions in the said Act mentioned, the Governor in
Council may from time to time appoint and remove
Examiners, and award the remuneration to be paid
to them: And whereas it is expedient to appoint
Examiners for the purposes of the said Act at the
Port of Auckland:

Now therefore I, Sir George Alfred Arney, Knight,
the Officer Administering the Government of the
Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the authority
in me vested by the said Act, and by and with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council of the
said Colony, do hereby appoint

THOMAS CAPEL TILLY, of Auckland, a Navi-
gating Lieutenant in the Royal Navy, and
MATTHEW THOMAS CLAYTON, of Auckland,
Master Mariner,

to be Examiners at the Port of Auckland for the
purposes of the examinations in the said Act men-
tioned and provided for.
