NOTICE.

FREE PARDON TO AN ACCOMPLICE.

Wellington, 21st December, 1871.

WHEREAS it is supposed that the Choral
Society's Hall, situated in Symonds Street,
Auckland, was set on fire on the night of the 10th
instant by the act of incendiaries:

This is to notify, that His Excellency the Governor
will grant a Free Pardon to any person implicated
in the said act, not being a principal offender, who
shall give such information as will lead to the ap-
prehension and conviction of any one or more of the
other offenders.

Class. Date of commission, 1st June, 1870.

Captain Frederic Charles Rowan, Taranaki Militia,
to be Sub-Inspector, 1st Class. Date of commis-
sion, 7th September, 1868.

Sub-Inspectors, 2nd Class, Henry Charles Morri-
son, Arthur Algernon Crapp, and Thomas Nepean
Edward Kenny, to be Sub-Inspectors, 1st Class,
from 1st June, 1870.

of the Colonial Forces, of the New Zealand War
Medal, is published for general information.

PROGRESS REPORT OF THE WAR MEDAL

COMMISSIONERS.

To His Excellency Sir GEORGE FERGUSON BOWEN,
G.C.M.G., &c., &c., &c.

MAY IT PLEASE YOUR EXCELLENCY,—

In accordance with the instructions conveyed by
the Commission of the 1st July, 1871, I have now
the honor to forward herewith Rolls marked A, B,
and C respectively, containing the names of officers
and men who have served in the Colonial Forces,
and whose claims to the New Zealand War Medal
have been approved of by me since the publication
of our last Report.

On Roll marked A, are the names of those appli-
cants who are entitled to receive the War Medal for
services performed prior to the 31st December, 1866.

On Roll marked B, are the names of the officers
and men entitled to receive the Medal for services
rendered at a subsequent date.

Roll marked C contains the names of deceased
officers and men of the Colonial Forces whose
relatives have claimed the medal to which they
would have been entitled, and whose claims I have
admitted.

I have, therefore, the honor to submit this as a
Progress Report for your Excellency's consideration.
