Collector of Customs at the said Port, the Prin-
cipal Officer of Customs for the time being at such
port shall be a member of such Board."

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this
twenty-fifth day of October, 1871.

Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by "The Lunatics Act, 1868," it is
enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor
in Council, from time to time, to order and direct
that all or any of the powers, functions, duties, and
authorities vested in or required to be performed by
the Governor, or the Governor in Council, or the
Colonial Secretary, by the said Act, within any
Province or other district of the Colony, shall be
exercised or performed by the Superintendent of any
such Province, or by any other person the Governor
may think fit, subject however to any limitations or
restrictions as he may think fit; and thereupon such
functions, powers, duties, and authorities may by
such Superintendent or other person be exercised or
performed within the Province or other district of
the Colony specified in such order:
Now therefore, His Excellency Sir George Fer-
guson Bowen, the Governor of New Zealand, with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council of
the said Colony, in pursuance and exercise of the
power and authority for that purpose vested in him,
doth hereby order and direct that all the powers,
functions, duties, and authorities vested in or required
to be performed by the Governor, or the Governor
in Council, or the Colonial Secretary, by "The
Lunatics Act, 1868," within the Province of Otago,
shall be exercised by

WILLIAM ALEXANDER TOLMIE, Esq.,
the Deputy Superintendent of the said Province, but
only during the absence of the Superintendent of the
said Province therefrom, and during any vacancy in
the office of the Superintendent of the said Province
arising by death or resignation, and only so long as
the said William Alexander Tolmie, Esq., shall hold
the office of Deputy Superintendent of the said Pro-
vince.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this
twenty-fifth day of October, 1871.

Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by "The Marine Act, 1867," it is
amongst other things enacted that the Gover-
nor may, by Order in Council, from to time delegate
all or any of the powers and authorities vested in him
by the said Act, as therein mentioned, and every such
delegation from time to time alter or revoke: And
whereas, by an Order in Council, dated the eighth day
of January, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-
eight, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of
the twenty-third day of January, in the same year,
His Excellency the Governor, by and with the consent
of the Executive Council of the Colony, did delegate
unto the Superintendent of the Province of Auckland,

and his successors in such office, certain powers
vested in him by section seven of the said Act:
And whereas it is expedient to revoke the delegation
so made as aforesaid :-
Now, therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and
with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the said Colony, do hereby, in pursuance and
exercise of the power and authority in me vested in
that behalf, do revoke so much of the said Order in
Council of the eighth day of January, one thousand
eight hundred and sixty-eight, as delegated to the
Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, and his
successors in such office, the powers therein specified
under the seventh section of "The Marine Act, 1867,"
but such revocation shall only operate and take effect
as respects the Port of Auckland, as such port is
defined in the Schedule to an Order in Council, bear-
ing date the twentieth day of November, one thousand
eight hundred and sixty-eight, and published in the
New Zealand Gazette of the twenty-third day of
November in the same year.

IN exercise of the powers and authorities vested in
me by "The Diseased Cattle Act Amendment
Act, 1865," I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the
Governor of New Zealand, do hereby assent to the
regulations and prohibitory declarations contained in
a Proclamation issued by Oswald Curtis, Esquire,
Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, dated the
fourteenth day of October, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-one, and published in the New
Zealand Gazette on the twentieth day of October,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-one.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order
of Saint Michael and Saint George,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same, at the Government
House at Wellington, this thirtieth day
of October, in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-one.
