ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, the
nineteenth day of August, 1868.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by "The Waste Lands Act, 1858,"
it is provided that it shall be lawful for the
Governor in Council at any time, and from time to
time, to except from sale and reserve to Her Majesty,
or dispose of in such manner as for the public
interest may seem best, such of the Waste Lands of
the Crown in any of the Provinces of New Zealand as
may be required for the purpose of military defence,
or for the construction of trunk lines of road, or as
sites for public buildings for the use of the General
Government, or for other purposes of public utility
or convenience:
Now therefore, His Excellency the Governor, with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council of
New Zealand, doth hereby except from sale and
reserve to the use of Her Majesty, as sites for public
buildings or other purposes of the General Govern-
ment, the allotments or parcels of land described in
the Schedule hereunder written; and His Excellency
the Governor doth hereby notify to the Superin-
tendents of Nelson and Auckland respectively, that
the lands defined in the Schedule hereto have been
reserved in terms of the Act above cited.
SCHEDULE.
PROVINCE OF NELSON.
Town of Westport.
All that parcel of land containing by admeasure-
ment one (1) acre, more or less, bounded towards
the North by Gladstone Street, five hundred (500)
links; towards the East by Palmerston Street, two
hundred (200) links; towards the South by Kennedy
Street, five hundred (500) links; and towards the
West by Molesworth Street, two hundred (200)
links, be all the aforesaid linkages, more or less.
All that parcel of land containing by admeasure-
ment five (5) acres, more or less, bounded towards
the North by Lyndhurst Street, five hundred (500)
links; towards the East by Peel Street, one thousand
(1,000) links; towards the South by Brougham
Street, five hundred (500) links; and towards the
West by Queen Street, one thousand (1,000) links,
be all the aforesaid linkages, more or less.
All that parcel of land containing by admeasure-
ment five (5) acres, more or less, bounded towards
the North by Lyndhurst Street, five hundred (500)
links; towards the East by Queen Street, one
thousand (1,000) links; towards the South by
Brougham Street, five hundred (500) links; and
towards the West by Russell Street, one thousand
(1,000) links, be all the aforesaid linkages, more or
less.
All that parcel of land containing by admeasure-
ment thirteen (13) acres and one (1) rood, more or
less, bounded towards the North by Henley Street,
five hundred (500) links; towards the East by
Russell Street, two thousand six hundred and fifty
(2,650) links; towards the South by Wakefield
Street, five hundred (500) links; and towards the
West by Palmerston Street, two thousand six
hundred and fifty (2,650) links, be all the aforesaid
linkages, more or less.
Town of Cobden.
All that parcel of land containing by admeasure-
ment two (2) acres, more or less, bounded towards
the North by Fox Street, five hundred (500) links;
towards the East by Newcastle Street, four hundred
(400) links; towards the South by Bright Street,
five hundred (500) links; and towards the West by
Sturge Street, four hundred (400) links, be all the
aforesaid linkages, more or less.
All that parcel of land containing by admeasure-
ment seven (7) acres and two (2) roods, more or less,
bounded towards the North by a line one thousand
seven hundred and twenty-five (1,725) links; towards
the South by Curtis Road; and towards the South-
west and West by Robinson Street and by lines two
hundred (200) links, three hundred (300) links, and
two hundred (200) links, be all the aforesaid linkages,
more or less.
PROVINCE OF AUCKLAND.
Whangarei.
All that parcel of land containing forty-eight (48)
acres, more or less, being allotment number One A.
(1A.) of the Parish of Manaia, County of Marsden,
bounded on the North by lines five hundred (500)
links and three thousand seven hundred and fifty
(3,750) links; on the East by a line five hundred
and thirty (530) links; on the South-east by the
Whangarei Harbour; on the South by a line five
hundred (500) links; and on the South-west by the
Whangarei Harbour aforesaid.
Town of Russell (Kororarika).
Allotment number Eight (8) of section number
Five (5).
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of
Saint Michael and Saint George, Governor
and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her
Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and
its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of
the same, at the Government House, at
Wellington, this nineteenth day of
August, in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly
of New Zealand, intituled "The Native Re-
serves Amendment Act, 1862," it is amongst other
things provided, that where, under the provisions of
"The Native Reserves Act, 1856," the assent of the
aboriginal inhabitants is required to bringing land
under the operation of the said "Native Reserves
Act, 1856," the Governor may, by Order in Council,
declare such assent to have been ascertained, and
thereupon the title of the aboriginal inhabitants in
the land to which the same shall relate shall be
deemed to be extinguished, and the lands shall, from
the date of such Order in Council, vest in Her
Majesty for the purposes and subject to the pro-
visions of the said "Native Reserves Act, 1856," as
attested by the recited Act, and that as effectually as
if the same had been ceded and conveyed by such
aboriginal inhabitants to Her Majesty:
Now therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council, doth hereby declare that the assent of the
aboriginal inhabitants to the bringing the piece of
land described in the Schedule hereunder written
under the operation of "The Native Reserves Act,
1856," has been ascertained.
