A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Municipal Corporations
Act, 1867," it is enacted that the district
comprised within any of the cities, towns, or places
therein particularly specified, incorporated or reputed
to have been incorporated as therein mentioned
(including, amongst other cities and towns or places,
the town hereinafter named and specified), may,
upon the performance or happening of the conditions
and upon compliance with the terms by the said Act
instituted a borough under the said Act. And whereas
the conditions and terms by the said Act imposed for
the constitution as a borough of the district within
the town hereinafter specified have been duly per-
formed, have happened, and have been complied
with:

Now therefore I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby
constitute and proclaim the district comprised within

THE TOWN OF HOKITIKA,

as the boundaries thereof are defined in and by
"The Municipal Corporations Act, 1867," to be a
Borough under the said Act.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order
of Saint Michael and Saint George,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same, at the Government
House, at Wellington, and issued under
the Public Seal of the said Colony, this
twenty-fourth day of August, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and sixty-eight.

IN exercise of the powers and authorities vested in
me by "The Diseased Cattle Act Amendment
Act, 1865," I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the
Governor of New Zealand, do hereby assent to the
regulations and prohibitory declarations contained
in three several proclamations issued by William
Rolleston, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province
of Canterbury, dated respectively the ninth day of
June, the ninth day of June, and the tenth day of
June, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight,
and published consecutively in the New Zealand
Gazette
on the twelfth day of June, one thousand
eight hundred and sixty-eight, as the same are
respectively altered and varied by three several
Orders in Council, under the hand of His Excellency
the Governor, dated respectively the fifth day of
August, the twelfth day of August, and the twelfth
day of August, one thousand eight hundred and
sixty-eight, whereof the first order was published in
the New Zealand Gazette on the seventh day of
August, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight,
and the second and third orders on the eighteenth
day of August, one thousand eight hundred and
sixty-eight.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand
