W HEREAS by virtue of an Act of the General
Assembly of New Zealand, intituled "The
Native Lands Act, 1867," the Governor may at his
discretion refer to the Native Lands Court the claim
of any person to, or any question affecting the title
to or interest of any such person in land within the
boundaries described in the second Schedule to the
said Act, being the boundaries described in a certain
deed of sale to the Crown, bearing date the
thirteenth day of December, one thousand eight
hundred and sixty-six, and expressed to be a con-
veyance by Natives entitled to land within the
district excepted from the operation of "The Native
Lands Act, 1865," by section eighty-two thereof:
Provided that no claim by and no question relating
to the title or interest of any Native who shall have
signed the said deed of sale shall be so referred :
Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
the Governor of New Zealand, in exercise of the
powers vested in me in that behalf, do hereby refer
to the Native Lands Court the claims which are
named in the Schedule hereunto attached, being
claims for lands within the boundaries aforesaid of
Natives who have not signed the said deed of sale.

Cross of the Most Distinguished Order
of Saint Michael and Saint George,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same, at the Government
House, at Wellington, this seventeenth
day of July, in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight.

N pursuance and exercise of the power and
authority in me vested in this behalf by the
Regulations for the sale and disposal of Waste
Lands in the County of Westland, I hereby reserve
the lands in the said County, the boundaries whereof
are described in the Schedule hereunto annexed, for
the uses of the Colonial Government, and other
public purposes, as in the said Schedule is more
particularly specified.

SCHEDULE.
Four hundred and thirty-six acres, more or less,
commencing at a point on the boundary of Native
Reserve No. 30, on the North side of Kawhaka
Creek; thence along the Kawhaka Valley to the
summit of the saddle; thence down the Waimea
Valley and along the northern slopes of Mount
Turiwhate to Rangariri Creek, and continuing along
the South side of the Teremakau Valley to the Tapio
River, a distance of eighteen miles twelve chains,
and being of a width of three chains, subject to
Reserve No. 666 (in red). For railway purposes.
One thousand and sixty-six acres, more or less,
commencing at the Taipo River, and extending along
