WHEREAS by "The County of Westland Act,
1867," it is provided as follows:-"All
powers now by law vested in the Superintendent of
the said Province, either solely or with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said
Province, shall, within the said county, become
vested in the Governor: Provided that the Governor
in Council may from time to time delegate all or any
of the said powers to such person or persons as he
may think fit, and subject to such limitations as he
may think fit, and may in like manner alter or revoke
such delegations, and any act which is now by law
required to be done by any public officer of the
Province of Canterbury, shall be done, within the
said county, by such person or persons as the
Governor shall appoint or direct." And whereas it
is expedient that a person should be appointed to do,
within the County of Westland, such acts as at the
time of the passing of the said Act were by law
required to be done by the Provincial Treasurer in
and for the Province of Canterbury:
Now therefore, I, Sir George Grey, K.C.B.,
Governor of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance
of all powers and authorities enabling me in this
behalf, do hereby appoint
GEORGE WINTER, Esq.,
of Hokitika, Paymaster for the said County, to do
and perform within the County of Westland, all
such acts as at the time of the passing of the said
Act were by law required to be done by the said
Provincial Treasurer in and for the Province of
Canterbury.

Most Honorable Order of the Bath,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and issued

Land Revenue Appropriation Act, 1858," I, Sir
George Grey, the Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand, do hereby appoint you

to be a Receiver of Land Revenue for the County of
Westland.

Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and issued

WHEREAS the County of Westland there shall be a Council to
advise and assist in the exercise of certain powers,
and that one member of the said Council, who shall
be chairman thereof, shall be appointed by the
Governor in Council:
Now therefore, I, Sir George Grey, K.C.B., the
Governor, with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the Colony, do hereby appoint
The Honourable JOHN HALL,
to be the member of the Council of the County of
Westland, who also shall, in pursuance of the said
Act, be chairman thereof.

TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME,
GREETING:
WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly
of New Zealand, intituled "The County of
Westland Act, 1867," it is enacted that all the laws
applicable to the election of Members of Provincial
Councils, shall apply to the election of Members of
the Council, thereby constituted, of the County of
Westland. And whereas by another Act of the
General Assembly, intituled "The Regulation of
Elections Act, 1858," it is enacted that it shall be
lawful for the Governor, by warrant under his hand,
from time to time, to appoint polling places for each
Electoral District within or without the limits
thereof, and to appoint any one of such places to be
the principal polling place for the district, and all or
any of such polling places at any time to abolish, and
to appoint other polling places in lieu thereof. And
whereas by another Act of the General Assembly,
intituled "The Provincial Elections Act, 1858," it is
enacted that, subject to certain provisions therein
contained, every election of a Member of the Pro-
vincial Council of a Province shall be conducted in
the manner prescribed by "The Regulation of
Elections Act, 1858," aforesaid, and all the provisions
of the said last-mentioned Act shall apply to the
elections of Members of Provincial Councils:
Now therefore, I, Sir George Grey, the Governor
of the said Colony, in pursuance of the power and
authority in me vested by the said Acts, do hereby
appoint the following places to be polling places for
the undermentioned districts respectively, for the
election of Members of the County Council of West-
land, namely,
For the District of Town of Hokitika.
Warden's Court, Hokitika.
For the District of Greymouth.
Warden's Court, Greymouth.
For the District of Westland.
Warden's Court, Hokitika,
Warden's Court, Greymouth,
Hamilton's Store, Rutherglen,
Warden's Court, Waimea,
