Act it is enacted that the principal sum secured by
any such Debenture issued after the passing of the
Act now in recital, as in the said Act or in the Act
now in recital mentioned, shall be payable at a place,
and on a day named in such Debenture, not sooner
than the thirty-first day of December, one thousand
eight hundred and sixty-five, and not later than the
thirty-first day of December, one thousand eight
hundred and sixty-eight, anything in the said Act
notwithstanding. And whereas by the fourth section
of the said Amendment Act it is also enacted that
after payment of the principal sums and the interest
thereon, secured by such Debentures respectively or
any of them, and notwithstanding such payment new
Debentures may be issued for such sums and in such
manner in all respects as is provided by the said Act
as to Debentures therein mentioned, and so on from
time to time until the thirty-first day of December,
one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight, and not
afterwards, subject to a proviso that the total amount
of principal money secured by Debentures under the
said Act and the Act now in recital at any one time,
should not exceed in the whole the sum of One
million pounds sterling, and that the principal be
made payable not later than the thirty-first day of
December, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-
eight. And whereas by the fifth section of the said
Amendment Act it is further enacted that if the
holder of any such Debentures, issued before the
passing of the Act now in recital, shall be willing
before the same be paid to renew the same and
accept a Debenture issued under the Act now in
recital in lieu of the Debenture then held by him,
such new Debenture may be issued for the amount
of the Debenture then held by the said holder,
subject however to a proviso that such new Deben-
ture shall not be issued for a longer period than that
allowed by the Act now in recital. And by the said
"Debenture Act, 1864, Amendment Act, 1865," it is
further enacted that all the provisions of "The
Debenture Act, 1864," shall apply to the Debentures
authorized to be issued under the Act now in recital.
And whereas that it is expedient that new Deben-
tures should be issued under the said fourth section
of the said Amendment Act, for the sum of Forty
thousand pounds so paid off as aforesaid, and also
for the sum of One hundred thousand pounds, so
coming due as aforesaid when the same shall be paid
off. And whereas it is intended to appoint an Agent
in New Zealand to issue, in New Zealand, new
Debentures under the said fifth section of the said
Amendment Act, and it is expedient that Agents
should be appointed in England to issue, in England,
new Debentures under the fifth section of the said
Amendment Act:
Now therefore, I, Sir George Grey, the Governor
as aforesaid, in pursuance and in exercise of all
powers and authorities in this behalf enabling me, do
hereby revoke, and from the day of the date hereof,
annul the appointments and appointment of the
said Frederick Aloysius Weld, William Fitzherbert,
Henry Sewell, John Larkins Cheese Richardson,
Walter Baldock Durrant Mantell, and Harry Albert
Atkinson, and each of them as Agents and Agent as
aforesaid: And do hereby appoint that there may be
borrowed and raised under the authority of the said
Act and the said Amendment Act, the sum of Sixty
thousand pounds, part of the said unraised sum of
Ninety-two thousand eight hundred and ninety-four
pounds eight shillings and eight pence. And I do
also appoint that under the authority of the said Act
and the said Amendment Act, new Debentures may
be issued to the amount of Forty thousand pounds
under the said fourth section of the said Amendment
Act, in the place of the Debentures to the amount of
Forty thousand pounds so paid off as aforesaid. And
I do also hereby appoint that after payment of the
principal sums and the interest thereon, secured by
the said Debentures for the sum of One hundred
thousand pounds so becoming due and payable on
the thirty-first day of March now next ensuing, there
may be issued new Debentures for One hundred
thousand pounds under the said fourth section of the
said Amendment Act. And I do also appoint that
the said sum of Sixty thousand pounds shall be raised
by Debentures in the form hereunder written, in
sums of not less in amount than Twenty pounds, nor
more than One thousand pounds, at the discretion of
the Agents or Agent hereinafter mentioned and
appointed, and that the same shall bear interest at
the rate of eight pounds per centum per annum.
And I do also appoint that the new Debentures herein-
before authorized to be issued to the several amounts
of Forty thousand pounds and One hundred thousand
pounds under the said fourth section of the said
Amendment Act in the place of the Debentures to
the amount of Forty thousand pounds and One
hundred thousand pounds, paid off or to be paid off
as aforesaid respectively, shall be in the form here-
under written, in sums of not less in amount than
Twenty pounds nor more than One thousand pounds
at the discretion of the Agents or Agent hereinafter
mentioned and appointed, and that the same shall bear
interest at the rate of Eight pounds per centum per
annum. And I do also appoint that PENROSE GOOD-
CHILD JULYAN and WILLIAM CHARLES SARGEAUNT,
Crown Agents for the Colonies, of Spring Gardens,
in the City of Westminster, in England, jointly and
each of them severally shall be the Agents and Agent
in England for the purpose of raising the said several
sums of Sixty thousand pounds, Forty thousand
pounds, and One hundred thousand pounds respect-
ively so authorized to be raised as aforesaid, and for
signing and issuing Debentures hereby authorized to
be raised. And I do direct that Coupons in the
form hereunder may be appended to the Debentures
issued under the authority hereby given or not, as
the said Penrose Goodchild Julyan and William
Charles Sargeaunt, or each of them, in their or his
discretion shall think fit. And I do direct that the
said Penrose Goodchild Julyan and William Charles
Sargeaunt, shall have all the powers under the said
Act and the said Amendment Act in reference to
raising the said several sums of Sixty thousand
pounds, Forty thousand pounds, and One hundred
thousand pounds respectively. And in pursuance
and in exercise of all powers and authorities in this
behalf enabling me, I do hereby appoint that to any
holder of any of the Debentures issued before the
passing of the said Amendment Act, under the
authority of either of the hereinbefore recited
Warrants, who shall be willing to renew the same
and accept a Debenture issued under the fifth section
of the said Amendment Act, Debentures may be
issued under the said fifth section of the said Amend-
ment Act. And I do appoint that every Debenture
issued under the said fifth section of the said Amend-
ment Act shall be in the said form hereunder written
in sums of not less in amount than Twenty pounds
nor more than One thousand pounds at the discretion
of the Agents or Agent hereinafter mentioned and
that the same shall bear interest at the rate of Eight
pounds per centum per annum. And that the said
Penrose Goodchild Julyan and William Charles
Sargeaunt, and each of them, shall until otherwise
ordered, be the sole Agents in England to sign and
issue the same in England and not elsewhere. And I
do direct that Coupons in the form hereunder
written, may or may not be appended to the
Debentures issued under the said fifth section of the
said Amendment Act by virtue of the authority
hereby given, as the said Penrose Goodchild Julyan
