IN virtue of the powers delegated to the Post-
master-General by His Excellency the Governor,
the following appointments have been made in the
Postal Service of the Colony.
JOHN HALL.

MARLBOROUGH.
John Bagge, to be Chief Postmaster at Blenheim, for
the Province of Marlborough, from 1st
October, 1866.

Frederick G. Downes, to be Postmaster at Picton,
from 1st October, 1866.

TO CONTRACTORS.-Electric Telegraph
Extension.
The Electric Telegraph Commissioner is prepared
to receive Tenders for the supply and delivery of
Telegraph Poles between the City of Wellington and
Masterton, along a route to be indicated by the
Telegraphic Engineer, and which will generally be
along the line of the present road.
Tenders are to be made at a price per pole, and
will be received for the following description of
poles :-
1st. For square sawn posts, to be cut from the
heart of totara, matai, blue gum, or stringy bark.
The whole of the posts to be straight, and free from
shakes or sap, to be 25 feet in length, 8 inches square
at the butt, and 6 inches square at the top, and to be
charred for a length of 6 feet measured from the butt
end.
2nd. For totara, matai, or kowai saplings, 25 feet
long, 12 inches through at the butt, and 7 inches
through at the top. These poles to be straight,
sound, and free from loose knots, and to be barked
and cleaned throughout their whole length, and
charred for a length of 6 feet measured from the
butts.
Separate Tenders will also be received for preparing
the above poles for cross-arms and roofs, and for the
erection of the poles at points to be indicated by the
Telegraphic Engineer.
The usual guarantee will be required.
Specifications can be seen and further particulars
obtained (if necessary) on application to the
Telegraphic Engineer, at the Telegraph Station,
Wellington.
Tenders addressed, "The Telegraphic Engineer,
Wellington," and endorsed, "Tenders for Telegraph
Poles," to be sent in not later than eleven a.m. on
the 15th November.

IN exercise of the power in me for this purpose
vested by "The Customs Regulation Act 1858,"
I, the Commissioner of Customs, do hereby approve
and appoint a portion of a building, situate in
Brougham Street, at the Port of New Plymouth, and
known as
BROWN'S WAREHOUSE,
to be a Warehouse for the reception of goods under
bond.
Given under my hand, at Wellington, this
eleventh day of October, one thousand
eight hundred and sixty-six.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned
persons have been duly licensed under section
sixteen of "The Customs Regulation Act, 1858," to
act as Custom House Agents at the Port of
Nelson :-
