I hereby certify that the native owners of the lands herein described have at various times been
promised Crown Grants for the same, and that these promises have been confirmed by His Excellency the
Governor, and by Mr. Bell, formerly Native Minister. The promises were verbal, and I am not aware
that there is any documentary evidence in support of them.
