ORDER IN COUNCIL
Appointing a Circuit Court to be held in New
Plymouth.

At the Government House, at Auckland, on the
13th day of January, 1865.
Present:--
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS, by an Act of the General Assembly
of New Zealand, intituled "The Supreme
Court Act 1860," it is provided that "there shall be
held Circuit Courts for the dispatch of civil and
criminal business of the Court before one of the
Judges thereof, at such places and times as the Go-
vernor in Council may from time to time appoint:"
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council of
New Zealand, doth hereby fix and appoint that a
Circuit Court shall be held at New Plymouth, in the
Province of Taranaki, in the Northern District of the
said Colony, on Tuesday the thirty-first instant, or
so soon after as may be convenient, for the dispatch
of Criminal business; and on Friday, the third day
of February next, or so soon after as may be conve-
nient, for the dispatch of Civil business of the Court,
before the Judge thereof to whom the said District
has been assigned. FORSTER GORING,

ORDER IN COUNCIL
Constituting Oamaru and Waikouaiti Militia Districts,
and altering the Northern Boundary of the Dunedin
Militia District, in the Province of Otago.

At the Government House at Auckland, on the
6th day of January, 1865.
Present:-
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS, by an Act of the General Assembly
of New Zealand intitutled "The Militia Act
1858," it is enacted, that it shall be lawful for the
Governor in Council from time to time to constitute
throughout the Colony, or in any part thereof, Mi-
litia Districts, and such Districts from time to time
to vary, and to designate the Militia of any such
Districts by the name of a Regiment, Battalion,
Corps, or Company:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council, in exercise of the above power, doth by this
present Order constitute the following several Milltia
Districts, to be called and known by the names fol-
lowing, viz.:-
THE OAMARU DISTRICT
Comprises all that area bounded towards the North
by the Waitaki River; towards the East by the
Ocean; towards the South by the Southern Boun-
dary Line of Blocks 3, 5, and 8 Otepopo Survey
District, and the said line extended in an easterly
direction until it intersects the circumference of a
circle whose radius is fifteen miles in length, and
centre the south-west corner of Block 2 Oamaru
Survey District; and towards the West, by the cir-
cumference of the said circle.
THE WAIKOUAITI DISTRICT
Comprises all that area bounded towards the North
by the Oamaru Militia District; towards the East
by the Ocean; towards the South by a line extend-
ing from Brinn's Point in a north-westerly direction
until it intersects the circumference of a circle whose
radius is fifteen miles in length, and centre the south-
west corner of Block 9 Moeraki Survey District;
and towards the West by the circumference of the
said circle.
THE DUNEDIN MILITIA DISTRICT.
The boundaries of the Dunedin Militia District, as
amended, now comprise all that area bounded to-
wards the North by the Waikouaiti Militia District;
towards the East by the Ocean; and towards the
South and West by the circumference of a circle
whose radius is twenty miles in length, and centre
the Police-Office in the Town of Dunedin.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
Ordering issue of Crown Grants to certain Natives.

At the Government House, at Auckland, this
13th day of January, 1865.
Present:-
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS, by "The Crown Grants Act (No. 2)
1862," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for
the Governor at any time to fulfil any contract, pro-
mise or engagement heretofore made with or to any
of the Native Inhabitants of New Zealand by or on
behalf of Her Majesty, whether there is evidence in
writing or not of such contract, or promise, or en-
gagement, with respect to any Land ceded by such
Natives to Her Majesty on the faith of such contract,
or promise, or engagement, on the Governor in
Council being satisfied with the evidence produced
on behalf of such contract, or promise, or en-
gagement: And whereas certain of the Native
Inhabitants of New Zealand, residing within the
Province of Nelson, have at various times ceded
Lands to the Crown, and the Officers negociating
on behalf of Her Majesty for the cession of such
Lands have made promises or engagements that
Crown Grants should be issued for certain Lands
held by Natives within the said Province: Now,
therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by and with
the consent of his Executive Council, and in pursu-
ance of the power and authority vested in him by the
said in part recited Act, being satisfied with the evi-
dence which has been produced on behalf of such
contract, promise, or engagement, doth hereby Order
that Crown Grants shall be issued for the pieces or
parcels of Land which are described in the Schedule
hereunto annexed.
