pounds, on the security of Treasury Bills pay-
able at the expiration of a term not exceeding
twelve months from the date thereof. And
whereas the sums of £25,000 and £30,000
have already been raised in manner above pre-
scribed in virtue of Orders in Council dated 21st
November, 1862, and 17th January, 1863,
respectively, and it has become necessary to
borrow a further sum of £45,000 in anticipa-
tion of the said Loan;
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Go-
vernor of the Colony of New Zealand, with
the advice and consent of the Executive
Council, of the said Colony, doth hereby autho-
rise the Honorable Reader Gilson Wood, Colo-
nial Treasurer of New Zealand, to borrow and
take up a further sum or sums not exceeding
in the whole the sum of forty five thousand
pounds sterling, and to issue Treasury Bills
therefor on the terms and subject to the condi-
tions before recited,

Warrant abolishing Polling Places and ap-
pointing others in lieu thereof.

in-Chief in and over Her Ma-
jesty's Colony of New Zealand
and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same, &c., &c.
To all to whom these Presents shall come,
Greeting :-
WHEREAS by "The Regulation of Elec-
tions Act, 1858," it is enacted that it shall
lawful for the Governor, by Warrant under his
hand, from time to time, to appoint Polling
Places for each Electoral District, within or
without the limits thereof, and to appoint any
one of such Places to be the Principal Polling
Place for the District, and all or any of such
Polling Places at any time to abolish and to
appoint other Polling Places in lieu thereof:
And whereas certain Polling Places were
appointed for the City of Nelson District for
the Election of Members for the House of
Representatives;
And whereas it is expedient to abolish the
same;
NOW KNOW YE, that I, SIR GEORGE GREY,
the Governor of the said Colony, in pursuance
of the power and authority in me vested by the
said Act, do hereby abolish the Polling Places
above referred to for the City of Nelson Dis-
trict for the Election of Members of the House
of Representatives and do appoint in lieu
thereof;

The Odd Fellows' Hall.
The Office of the Board of Works.
And I do further appoint the Polling Place
hereinafter specified to be the Principal Polling

WITH reference to the Proclamation of
the 29th instant, declaring what ar-
ticles shall be considered as Warlike Stores
for the purposes of the "Arms Act, 1860,"
it is hereby notified that persons dealing
or desirous of dealing in any of the Articles
prohibited by the said Proclamation, but not
previously prohibited, may, upon application
to a Licensing Officer appointed under the
Act, and subject to the approval of the ap-
plication by such officer, obtain the necessary
License free of charge, to deal in such last
named articles, upon the terms and conditions
in such License specified.
