A PROCLAMATION
For bringing Ordinance, Session 7, No. 10,
and "The Weights and Measures Ordi-
nance Amendment Act, 1861," into opera-
tion within a District in the Province of
Marlborough.

the Most Honourable Order of
the Bath, Governor and Com-
mander-in-Chief in and over
Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies,
&c., &c., &c.

WHEREAS it is expedient to bring into
operation within a portion of the Pro-
vince of Marlborough, the Ordinance intitu-
led an Ordinance for establishing Standard
Weights and Measures and for the prevention
of such as are false and deficient Session VII
No. 10, and an Act intituled "The Weights
and Measures Ordinance Amendment Act,
1861:"

Now, therefore, I, Sir George Grey, the
Governor of New Zealand, in exercise of the
power and authority in me vested in that be-
half, do hereby proclaim and appoint that from
the sixth day of October, One thousand eight
hundred and sixty-three the operation of the
said Ordinance and Act shall extend to the
following District situate in the Province of
Marlborough in the said Colony, that is to
say:-

All that part of the Province of Marl-
borough situated and being within a radius of

Twenty-five miles of the Town of Blenheim,
in the said Province of Marlborough.

Given under my hand at the Go-
vernment House, at Auckland, and
issued under the seal of the
Colony of New Zealand, this
seventh day of August, in the
year of our Lord, One thousand
eight hundred and sixty-three.

Authorising further issue of Treasury Bills.

At the Government House, at Auckland, on
the 15th day of June, 1863.

Present:-

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by the "Loan Act, 1862,"
power is given to raise in Great Britian
a Loan of Β£500,000 for the Public Service of
the Colony, and it is enacted that, until the
aforesaid sum of Five hundred thousand pounds
shall be raised in Great Britain, it shall be
lawful for the Colonial Treasurer, if thereunto
authorised by an Order of the Governor in
Council, from time to time to borrow and take
up at Interest at a rate not exceeding six
pounds per centum per annum, payable out of
the Ordinary Revenue, any sums of money not
exceeding in the whole One hundred thousand
