MILITIA.
BY virtue and in exercise of the authority
me vested, I, THEODORE MINET
HAULTAIN, Lieut. Colonel Commanding the 1st
or Auckland Battalion of the Auckland Regi-
ment of Militia, do hereby appoint and declare
that the said Battalion shall be formed into
nine Companies as follows, viz:-
No. 1 COMPANY.
To comprise all those liable to serve as
Militiamen whose places of abode for the time
being are-
Within a line commencing at the centre
point of Queen-street at its seaward termina-
tion, thence running along the centre of Queen-
street to its junction with Victoria-street
thence Eastward along the centre of Victoria-
street, to its junction with Victoria Quadrant,
thence along the centres of Victoria Quadrant,
of Waterloo Quadrant, and of the Strand,
respectively to the junction of the last with
Stanley-street at its seaward termination, thence
Westward along high-water mark to the com-
mencing point excepting Britomart Barracks.
No. 2 COMPANY.
To comprise all those liable to serve as
Militiamen whose places of abode for the time
being are-
Within a line commencing at the centre
point of Queen-street at its seaward termin-
ation thence running along the centre of
Queen-street to its junction with Victoria-
street, thence Westward along the centres of
Victoria-street and of Victoria-street West
respectively, to the sea, and thence along high
water mark to the commencing point.
No. 3 COMPANY.
To comprise all those liable to serve as
Militiamen whose places of abode for the time
being are-
Within a line commencing at the centre
point of Hobson-street at its junction with
Victoria-street, thence Southward along the
centres of Hobson-street and Pitt-street, res-
pectively to the junction of Pitt-street, with
the Karangahape Road, thence Eastward along
the centre of the Karangahape Road to its
junction with Upper Queen street, thence
Northward along the centre of Upper Queen
street and of Queen-street respectively, to
the junction of the latter with Victoria-street,
thence Westward along the centre of Victoria-
street, to the commencing point.
No. 4 COMPANY.
To comprise all those liable to serve as
Militiamen whose places of abode for the time
being are-
Within a line commencing at the centre
point of Queen-street at its junction with
Victoria-street, thence Southward along the
centres of Queen-street, and of Upper Queen-
street respectively, to the junction of the latter
with the Karangahape Road, thence Westward
along the centre of the Karangahape Road
to its junction with the Ponsonby and
Newton Roads, thence Southeast along

the Newton Road, to its junction with the
Mount Eden Road, thence Southward
along the Mount Eden Road to its junction
with the Kyber Pass Road, thence along the
Kyber Pass Road, to its junction with the
Grafton Road, thence along the Grafton Road
to its junction with Stanley-street, thence
Northward along the centre of Stanley-street
to its junction with the Strand, thence
Westward along the Strand to its junction with
Waterloo Quadrant, thence along the centres
of Waterloo Quadrant and Victoria Quadrant
respectively to the junction of the latter with
Victoria-street, thence Westward along the
centre of Victoria-street to the commencing
point, excepting the Albert Barracks Military
Reserve and Government House grounds.
NO. 5 COMPANY.
To comprise all those liable to serve as Mili-
tiamen whose places of abode for the time
being are-
Within a line commencing at the centre
point of Hobson-street at its junction with
Victoria-street, thence Southward along the
centres of Hobson-street and of Pitt-street
respectively to the junction of the latter with
the Karangahape Road, thence South-westward
along the centre of that road to its conjunction
with the Ponsonby and Newton Roads, thence
Northwestward along the centre of the Ponsonby
Road to its conjunction with Franklin-street,
thence North-eastward along Franklin-street to
its seaward termination, thence North-eastward
along high water mark to the seaward termi-
nation of Victoria-street West, and thence along
the centres of Victoria-street West and of
Victoria-street respectively to the commencing
point.
No. 6 COMPANY.
To comprise all those liable so serve as
Militiamen whose places of abode for the time
being are-
Within a line commencing at the centre
point of Stanley-street at its seaward termina-
mination, thence along the centre of Stanley-
street to its junction with the Grafton Road,
thence Southward along the centre of the
Grafton Road to its junction with the Kyber-
pass Road, thence Westward along the centre
of the Kyberpass Road to its junction with
the Mount Eden Road, thence along the centre
of that road to its junction with the Scoria
Quarry Road, thence along the centre of that
road to its junction with the Mount Eden
Reserve Road, thence Eastward, Southward
and Eastward again along the centre of the
Mount Eden Reserve Road to its junction
with the Epsom Road at the point of junction
of the Epsom Road with the Great South
Road, thence Northward along the centres of
the Epsom Road, of the Parnell Road, and
of the Strand respectively, to the commencing
point.
No. 7 COMPANY.
To comprise all those liable to serve as
Militiamen whose places of abode for the time
being are-
