Within a line commencing at the centre
point of Stanley-street at its junction with the
Strand, thence Eastward along the Strand to
its junction with the Parnell Road, thence
along the centre of the Parnell Road and of
the Epsom Road respectively, to the junction
of the latter with the Tamaki Road, thence
South-eastward along the centre of that road
to the Remuera stream, thence Northward
along that stream to the sea, and thence
Northward along high water mark to the
seaward termination of Stanley-street, thence
to the commencing point.
No. 8 COMPANY.
To comprise all those liable to serve as
Militiamea whose placcs of abode for the time
being are-
Within a line commencing at the seaward
termination of the Remuera stream, thence
along that stream to the Tamaki road, thence
North-westward along the centre of that road
to its junction with the Epsom road, thence
Southward along the Epsom Road to its
junction with the Great South road, thence
South-eastward along the centre of the Great
South road to the "Harp of Erin" hotel, thence
in a direct line Northward to that branch of
the Orakei creek which bounds the Sheep
Quarantine ground, thence down the said
creek to the sea, thence westward along the
high-water mark to the commencing point.
No. 9 COMPANY.
To comprise all those liable to serve as
Militiamen whose places of abode for the time
being are-
Within a line commencing at the seaward
termination of Franklyn-street, thence South-
ward along the centre of that street to its
junction with Ponsonby road, thence South
ward and South-eastward along the Ponsonby
road to its junction with the Karangahape
road and Newton road, thence South-eastward
along the centre of the Newton road to its
junction with the Mount Eden road, thence
Southward along that road to its junction with
the Cabbage Tree Swamp road, thence West-
ward along the centre of that road until it
rejoins the Karangahape road, thence West-
ward along the centre of that road till it crosses
the Scoria creek at Low and Motion's Mill,
thence Northward along that creek to the sea,
thence Northward and Eastward along high-
water mark to the commencing point.

MILITIA.
BY virtue and in exercise of the authority
in me vested, I, WILLIAM HENRY KENNY,
Lieutenant-Colonel Commanding the 2nd, or
Onehunga, Battalion of the Auckland Regi-
ment of Militia, do hereby appoint and declare
that the said Battalion shall be formed into five
companies, as follows, viz :-
2ND BATTALION.
No. 1 COMPANY.
To comprise all those liable to serve as
Militiamen, whose places of abode for the time
being are-
Within a line commencing at the cross roads
in front of Kelly's public house, thence S.
following the road along the Eastern side of
Captain Symond's property and on in a straight
line to high water mark on the Manukau,
thence Eastward along high water mark to the
bridge (St. Anne's Bridge) on the Great South
road, thence along that road N. W. to Lundon's
public house, thence along the road leading to
Onehunga S.W. to the commencing point.
No. 2 COMPANY.
To comprise all those liable to serve as
Militiamen, whose places of abode for the time
being are-
Within a line commencing at Kelly's public
house, thence S. following the road along the
Eastern side of Captain Symond's property
and on in a straight line to high water mark
on the Manukau, thence W. along high water
mark to the Whau Portage, thence N. along
the Portage road to the Whau Bridge, thence
Northward along high water mark of the
Whau River, Waitemata Harbour and the scoria
creek to the bridge on the Karangahape road,
thence along that road to its junction with the
Cabbage Tree Swamp road, thence E. along
that road to the Scoria Quarry road, thence S.E.
along that to the Tree Kings road, thence S.
along that road, and following the Eastern,
Northern, and again the Eastern boundaries of
the Wesleyan Mission Estate to the road
leading Eastward to Kelly's public house,
thence E. along that road to the commencing
point.
No. 3 COMPANY.
To comprise all those liable to serve as
Militiamen, whose places of abode for the time
being are-
Within a line commencing at Kelly's public
house, thence N.E. along the road to Lundon's
public house, thence N.W. along the Great
South Road to its junction with the Epsom
Road at the Junction Hotel, thence W., N., and
again W. and N.W. along the Mount Eden
Reserve Road to its junction with the Scoria
Quarry road, thence S.W. and S. along that
road and the Three Kings' Road, and following
the Eastern, Northern, and again the Eastern
boundaries of the Wesleyan Mission Estate to
the road leading Eastward to Kelly's public
house, thence E. along that road to the com-
mencing point.
Nos. 4 AND 5 COMPANIES.
To comprise all those liable to serve as
Militiamen, whose places of abode for the time
being are-
Westward of the Whau Portage Road,
Whau Bridge, Whau River and Waitemata
Harbour, and within a circle having a radius
of fifteen miles from the point where the Great
South Road intersects the Western boundary
line of Clendon's Grant, and who are to
assemble respectively either at Henderson's
Mill, or at the Huia, as they may find either
post most convenient to their own residences.
