were appointed Polling Places for the Muri-
hiku District for the election of the Superin-
tendent and Members of the Provincial Coun-
cil of the Province of Otago: And whereas
it is expedient to abolish the same:
Now know ye that I, Thomas Gore Browne,
the Governor of the said Colony, in pursuance
of the power and authority in me vested by the
said Act, do hereby abolish the above named
Polling Places for the Murihiku District for
the election of the Superintendent and Mem-
bers of the Provincial Council of the Province
of Otago.

the Most Honourable Order of
the Bath, Governor and Com-
mander-in-Chief in and over Her
Majesty's Colony of New Zea-
land, and its Dependencies, and
Vice-Admiral of the same, &c.,
&c., &c.
WHEREAS by the "Petty Sessions Act,
1858," the Governor is empowered
from time to time by notice in the New Zea-
land Gazette to constitute Petty Sessional
Districts in any part of the Colony, and such
Districts to abolish and the boundaries there-
of to define and alter as he shall think fit:
Now I, Thomas Gore Browne, the Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby
constitute that portion of the Province of
Marlborough which forms the Electoral Dis-
trict of Picton for the Election of Members
of the House of Representatives to be a Petty
Sessional District under the said Act. and I
do hereby notify the same accordingly.

Act" to Militia enrolled at the time of the
passing of that Act.

in-Chief in and over Her Ma-
jesty's Colony of New Zealand
and Vice-Admiral of the same,
&c., &c., &c.
WHEREAS it is enacted by "The Militia
Act Amendment Act, 1860," that
nothing therein contained shall apply to any
Battalion or Company of Militia then enrolled
under "The Militia Act, 1858," until the
Governor shall by warrant under his hand have
declared the same to be applicable, and such
warrant shall have been published in a News-
paper circulating in the Militia District to
which such Company belongs.
Now, I, the Governor, in pursuance of the
recited provision do hereby declare that the
said "Militia Act Amendment Act, 1860," shall
apply to the several Companies or Battalions
of Militia throughout the Colony enrolled
under the "Militia Act, 1858," at the
time of the passing of "The Militia Act
Amendment Act, 1860."

Constituting Tokamariro and Clutha Militia
Districts.
AT THE GOVERNMENT HOUSE, AT AUCKLAND,
THE SIXTH DAY OF MAY, 1861.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR, IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by an Act of the General
Assembly of New Zealand, intituled the
"Militia Act, 1858," it is enacted that it shall
be lawful for the Governor in Council from
time to time to constitute throughout the Co-
lony or in any part thereof Militia Districts,
and such Districts from time to time to vary
and to designate the Militia of any such Dis-
tricts by the name of a Regiment, Battalion,
Corps, or Company:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Gover-
nor, by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council in exercise of the above
power doth by this present Order constitute the
following several Militia Districts to be called
and known by the names following, viz.:β
The Tokomairiro District
Is bounded on the North by an East and
West line (true bearing) from the Waitahuna
Hill to the Waipori River; on the East by
Dunedin District and the ocean; on the
South by a direct line from Coal Point to the
South end of the Kaitangata Lake; on the
West by the Kaitangata and Tuakitoto Lakes,
