Is bounded on the North by the Dull Burn;
on the East by Tokomairiro District; on the
South by the South boundary of the East
and West Clutha Hundreds; and on the
West by the Waiwera, Clutha, and Waitahuna
Rivers.

ORDER IN COUNCIL
Reconstituting Wellington, Nelson, and Auck-
land Militia Districts.

AT THE GOVERNMENT HOUSE, AUCKLAND,
THIS SIXTH DAY OF MAY, 1861.
Present:-
His Excellency the Governor in Council.
WHEREAS by an Act of the General
Assembly of New Zealand, intituled the
"Militia Act, 1858," it is enacted that it shall
be lawful for the Governor in Council from
time to time to constitute throughout the
Colony, or in any part thereof, Militia Districts,
and such Districts from time to time to abolish,
and the boundaries thereof to vary, and to
designate the Militia of any such District by
the name of a Regiment, Battalion, Corps, or
Company, as he shall think fit: And whereas
by an Order in Council, dated the 13th day of
January, 1259, and published in the New
Zealand Gazette on the 14th of the same
month the Wellington Militia District was
constituted. And whereas by an Order in
Council, dated the 27th day of February,
1860, and published in the New Zea-
land Gazette on the 1st day of March,
1860, the Nelson Militia District was
constituted. And whereas by an order in
Council, dated the 5th day of April, 1860,
and published in the New Zealand Ga-
zette on the same day, the Auckland Militia
District was constituted: And whereas incon-
venience has arisen from the constitution of the
said Districts, and it is expedient that the same
should be abolished and that new Districts
respectively should be constituted in lieu thereof:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor,
by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council, in exercise of the above
recited power, doth by this present order abolish
the said Militia Districts, and doth constitute
three several Militia Districts, to be called and
known by the several names following, namely:
Wellington,
Nelson, and
Auckland;
and doth define the respective boundaries of
the said districts as follows:
Of the Wellington District the circumference
of a circle having a radius of fifteen
miles from the point where the Hutt River
enters Wellington Harbour.
Of the Nelson District the circumference of
a circle having a radius of fifteen miles
from the point where the Western mouth of the
point of Rabbit Island.
Of the Auckland District the circumference
of a circle having a radius of fifteen miles
from the point where the Great South Road
intersects the Western boundary line of
"Clendon's Grant," between Otahuhu and
Papakura, except so much of the area within
the said circle as lies to the North of the
Waitemata. And doth designate the Militia
within each of the said Districts, respectively,
by the name of a Regiment.

Changing designation of Taranaki, Whan-
ganui, Christchurch, and Dunedin Militia.

AT THE GOVERNMENT HOUSE, AT AUCKLAND,

WHEREAS by an Act of the General
Assembly of New Zealand, intituled,
"The Militia Act, 1858," it is enacted that it
shall be lawful for the Governor in Council
from time to time to constitu'e throughout the
Colony, or in any part thereof, Militia Dis-
tricts, and such Districts from time to time to
vary, and to designate the Militia of any such
District by the name of a Regiment, Battalion,
Corps, or Company: And whereas by certain
orders in Council the Militia Districts follow-
ing, namely, Taranaki, Wanganui, Christ-
church, and Dunedin, have been coustituted, and
the Militia therein respectively has been
designated by the name of a Battalion, and it
is expedient to change such name:
Now therefore, His Excellency the Gover-
nor, by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council, doth by this present order
designate the Militia within each of the said
Districts by the name of a Regiment.
