the General Assembly, intituled "The
Provincial Elections Act, 1858," it is enacted
that, subject to certain provisions therein
contained, every Election of the Superintendent
or of a Member of the Provincial Council of a
Province shall be conducted in the manner
prescribed by the "Regulation of Elections Act,
1858," aforesaid, and all the provisions of the
said last mentioned Act shall apply to the
Elections of Superintendents and Members of
Provincial Councils:
NOW KNOW YE, that I, Thomas Gore
Browne, the Governor of the said Colony, in
pursuance of the power and authority in me
vested by the said Acts, do hereby appoint
the following place to be a Polling Place
for the District of Clutha for the Election of
the Superintendent and of Members of the
Provincial Council of the Province of Otago
namely:
THE SCHOOL-ROOM AT INCH CLUTHA,
instead of the School-house, Clutha, as ap-
pointed by Warrant dated the first day of
June, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-
nine.
Given under my hand, at Govern-
ment House, at Auckland,
this twelfth day of September,
in the year of Our Lord, One
thousand eight hundred and
fifty-nine.

WHEREAS by "The Gold Duty Act,
1858," it is enacted that from and after
the day on which the Act now in recitai should
come into operation, there should be levied, col-
lected, and paid to Her Majesty, Her Heirs,
and Successors, for the public uses of the Co-
lony, and in support of the Government
thereof, the following Duty upon Gold, that
is to say, At the Customs, previous to Expor-
tation from New Zealand, the sum of two shil-
lings and sixpence upon every Ounce Troy
Weight of such Gold, and so on in proportion
for any greater or less quantity than an Ounce:
Provided always, that until the then next session
of the General Assembly, it should be lawful
for the Governor, by an order in Council, to
declare that a lower rate of Duty than two
shillings and sixpence should be collected on
each Ounce; and also from time to time to sus-
pend the collection of the said Duty, as from
the time of the coming into operation of the
said Act, until such time as shall hereafter be
appointed by his Excellency, by and with such
advice and consent as aforesaid.

TENDERS, will be received at this Office
until noon on Wednesday the 5th proximo,
for such printing as may be required at Auck-
land for the service of the General Government
during the twelve calendar months commencing
the first day of October next.
The Printing will be divided into the follow-
ing portions :-
1st. The Government Gazettes.
2nd. Bills, Acts, and Estimates.
3rd. Votes and Proceedings and Daily No-
tices of the Legislative Council and House
of Representatives.
4th. Statistics and similar Returns, chiefly
comprising figures.
5th. Blank Forms and other jobs not in-
cluded in the above portions.
Tenders for the first portion to specify a
price per sheet of demy 8 vo., as well as per
sheet of foolscap folio
Tenders will be received for the whole or
any portion of the above.
Further particulars may be obtained on
application at this Office.
