  1. Case No. 36. Pre-emption Certificate No. 148.
    -JOSEPH NEWMAN, of Auckland, settler.
    300 acres, Three hundred acres, situated
    near Mr. Hamlyn's farm, on the Tamaki, run-
    ning towards Manukau harbour, known by the
    name of Horatonga, and about half a mile
    from the lake, opening from the Tamaki.
    Alleged to have been purchased from the
    native chiefs Houtapu, William Jowett,
    and others.
    Consideration-four coats, six pairs trousers,
    six vests, and two bushels wheat.

Case No. 37. Pre-emption Certificates No.
127, and No. 238.-FRANCIS RING, of
Auckland, settler.
No. 127.-130 acres, One hundred and
thirty acres, situated at Karamu, in the
district of Eden; bounded on the east, west,
and north by a swamp, and on the south by
native land.
No. 238.-50 acres, Fifty acres, situated
at Karamu, in the district of the Manukau;
bounded on the north by another portion of
land purchased from the native chiefs by
claimant; on the south by laud purchased by
Thomas Henry, 2834 links; on the east by
land belonging to J. C. Hill; and on the
west by Donovan's land.
Alleged to have been purchased from the
native chiefs Keene and Paora.
Consideration-£30 in goods and cash.

Case No. 38. Pre-emption Certificate No. 124
-JOSEPH ROBINSON, of Epsom, settler.
160 acres, One hundred and sixty acres
situated south of the Tamaki road, and about
south-east of the land of Mr. Moffitt.
Alleged to have been purchased from the
native chiefs Kawau and others.
Consideration-goods amounting in value
to £15 12s 6d.

Case No. 39. Pre-emption Certificate No. 246,
-JOHN REGAN and TIMOTHY DWANE, of
Waiheke, sawyers.
300 acres, Three hundred acres, situated on
the Island of Pounui, near Waiheke; bounded
on one side by a sandy bay, named Whairua;
on another by a place named Whareongaonga;
on another by a place named Oturoa; and on
the other by land belonging to the chief
Ngatai.
Alleged to have been purchased from the
native chief Ngatai
Consideration-one boat, with oars, and
£11 cash.

WESTON, of Shortland Street, Auckland, to
exercise the business or calling of Auctioneer,
in New Zealand, for the year ending the 24th
day of April, 1848.

NOTICE is hereby given to the Holders
of New Zealand Government Deben-
tures, issued at Auckland, under the Regula-
tions of the 18th June, and 24th November,
1845, that the Interest thereon will be payable
at the Colonial Treasury, on or after Tuesday,
the 19th instant.

It is requested that application may be made
by persons entitled to receive the same, before
the close of the present month.

PRESENT-
His Excellency the Lieut.-Governor, the hon.
Colonial Secretary, the hon. Colonial Trea-
surer, the hon. Attorney-General, Mr.
Brown and Mr. Merriman; absent, Mr.
Domett.

Council met pursuant to adjournment.
Minutes of last meeting read and confirmed.
The Colonial Treasurer moved the order of
the day for the further consideration in com-
mittee of the Debenture Bill.

Bill further amended, and the report
brought up and adopted; and notice given
for the third reading of said Bill on Saturday
next.

The Colonial Secretary moved the order of
the day for the third reading of the 'Educa-
tion Bill.'

Bill read a third time, and passed.

The Attorney-General moved the order of
the day for the first reading of the 'Footpath
Bill.'

Bill read a first time, and notice given for
the second reading on Saturday next.

The Lieut.-Governor laid on the table a
Bill, intituled 'An Ordinance for Indemnify-
ing the Officers of H. M. Forces and others
for all acts done by them under certain Pro-
clamations of Martial Law.'

The Attorney-General gave notice that he
should move the first reading of the 'Indem-
nity Bill' on Saturday next.

The Council adjourned at half-past 2, until
2 o'clock on Saturday, the 9th inst.

MONDAY, 11th Ост.

Present-His Excellency and five members;
absent, Mr. Domett.

Council met pursuant to adjournment.
Minutes of last meeting read and confirmed.
The Colonial Treasurer moved the order of
the day for the third reading of the 'Deben-
ture Bill.'
