Bill read a third time and passed.
The Attorney-General moved the order of
the day for the second reading of the 'Foot-
path Bill.'
Bill read a second time, and notice given
that said Bill be committed on Tuesday next.
The Attorney-General moved the order of
the day for the first reading of the 'Indemnity
Bill.'
Bill read a first time, and notice given for
the second reading of the said Bill on Tues-
day next.
The Attorney-General also gave notice that
he should move on Tuesday next, that Coun-
cil do go into committee on the 'Naturaliza-
tion Bill.'
The Lieut.-Governor laid on the table the
draft of a Bill, intituled "An Ordinance to
settle an Annuity on the native chief Thomas
Walker Nene, in consideration of his services."
Ordered to be printed.
The Council adjourned at half-past 2, until
2 o'clock on Tuesday, the 12th inst.

TUESDAY, 12th OCTOBER.
Present-His Excellency and five members,
absent, Mr. Domett,
Council met pursuant to adjournment.
Minutes of the last meeting read and con-
firmed.
The Attorney General moved the order of
the day for the consideration in committee of
the 'Footpath Bill.'
Bill considered and amended, and report
brought up and adopted, and notice given for
the third reading on Thursday next.
The Attorney General moved the order of
the day for the second reading of the 'In-
demnity Bill.'
Bill read a second time, and on motion of
Attorney General, Council in committee on the
said bill.
Bill considered, and report brought up and
adopted, and notice given for the third read-
ing on Thursday next.
On motion of the Attorney General, council
in committee on the 'Naturalization Bill.'
Bill considered, the report brought up and
adopted, and notice given for the third read-
ing of said Bill on Thursday next.
The Colonial Treasurer gave notice that he
should move on Thursday next that the coun-
cil do resume in committee the consideration
of the 'Paper Currency Bill.'
The Attorney General gave notice that he
should move the first reading of 'Thomas
Walker Nene's Annuity Bill,' on Thursday
next.
Mr. Brown gave notice that he should move
on Thursday next, for a Return of 11 appli-
cations for Licenses to occupy government
lands, or native lands, since 16th Nov., 1846.
--distinguishing whether the lands so applied
for, are possessed by the natives, whether
purchased by the government, or by private
individuals, also the name of the applicant, the
result of the application, (whether acceded to
or refused), with the grounds of such re-
fusal, the sums of money, (if any) paid for
licenses, where granted, and the use proposed
to be made of the lands so leased.'
Council adjourned at 3 o'clock, until 2
o'clock on Thursday, the 14th inst.

THURSDAY, 14th OCTOBER.
Present-His Excellency and five members,
absent Mr. Domett.
Council met pursuant to adjournment.

a return giving the desired information.
Council adjourned at 3 o'clock, until 2
o'clock on Friday, the 15th instant.

Present-His Excellency and five members,
absent, Mr. Domett.
Council met pursuant to adjournment.
Minutes of last meeting read and confirmed.
On the Attorney General moving the order
of the day for the second reading of 'Thomas
Walker Nene's Annuity Bill,' the Lieut.-
Governor laid on the table an extract from a
despatch, dated Downing-street, 5th Dec.,
1845, from Lord Stanley to Lieut.-Governor
Grey, authorizing His Excellency to bestow
some mark of distinction-as from the Queen
upon the native chief Thomas Walker Nene,
in consideration of his services; as also to
make presents to such others as His Excel-
lency might think deserving of them, who
aided in suppressing the late rebellion in the
North.
The extract ordered to be read.
The bill read a second time, and on motion-
of the Attorney General council in committee
on said bill.
Bill considered and amended, and a clause
inserted empowering the Governor to confer
gratuities on such other chiefs. The report
brought up and adopted, and notice given
